How is it that one does not wish to be a cause? Because of the unchanging nature, there is no difference, so at all times one should only accept being a non-cause. This is the meaning of that. The explanation is like saying "the self-empowered one," and so on. If it is said that the sky and so on are the cause of the cause of all that is born, is this not only established for others? It is not, because it is intended to speak of the agent who is self-empowered. For that very reason, there is doubt in saying "or perhaps it is." "It is" refers to the self-empowered one. The knowledge of the nature of desire is what is spoken of in one's own system. In other systems, desire and knowledge are only different. "Also in that" refers to the sky and so on as well. For example, just as knowledge does not make any distinction in the self-empowered one because of its unchanging nature, so it is with the sky. Although it is so, if knowledge belongs to the self-empowered one, then why is it not accepted as belonging to the sky as well? Therefore, knowledge is the same for both. Therefore, is only the self-empowered one not a cause? However, the self-empowered one has a relationship of being together with knowledge, but the sky and so on do not. Therefore, one might think that only the self-empowered one is the cause. It is not, because the explanation of being together is the same for that as well. Therefore, like the self-empowered one, is the sky also a cause? Or perhaps neither is? Thus it remains. Not mentioning other refutations is what is meant by "also others." The arising of that desire, and the arising of the fruit, like a crow meeting a palm tree, is it joined by another? Or is it joined by the desire for the fruit? What certainty is there in this? Here, it is shown that there is no self-empowered agent either, as in "if," and so on. At that time, it is the nature of cause, in the nature of self-empowerment. If it is not so, that is, if one does not wish to be self-empowered, then "the cause of all" and so on are easy to understand. But how can one speak without relying on a joint agent? If so, then the loss of self-empowerment is irreversible. In any case, how does it become a cause here? If in the time of karma and so on

If there is a collection, then from its classification, if the result was not previously observed, then because of its existence it is observed, thus becoming like that, that is not ability, because it cannot manifest all collections by itself. Therefore, showing that Ishvara is not a valid cause either, means that combining the Pramanavarttika in another way is "or". Therefore, following this explanation, the second combination was made. If sentient beings enter into transformation after thinking, how is that not a cause? The answer is, it has been said from all such as desire. The world and so on are the doubts of others. The answer is given with "not an answer" and so on. If the world is caused by other actions, controlled by others, then this itself is not Ishvara, but completely unfree. Therefore, how can what is said be Ishvara? It is completely not Ishvara. Or, the difference in characteristics of being caused by other actions, controlled by karma, is that it is done to the world in a loving way. If asked like that, the answer is, hell and so on, as well as animals and hungry ghosts and so on, because those are accomplished, how can there be Ishvara without compassion? It is not appropriate for one with compassion to be like that. Thinking why not just generate all happiness? Others said "the world is karma". "That" refers to, using the suffering of hell and so on, to make hell and so on suffer, Ishvara has no ability to make sentient beings happy. The refutation is, this "is not pure", if that is the case, then Ishvara will not be pure. Why? Because it is said "if it is pure" and so on. "Even without ability" means without ability. "That" refers to pure. Why not intervene? It is said "not a pure action". Sinful actions cause suffering to the aggregates and so on, like putting salt on a wound. Or, "it is someone else's". "This way" means, whoever does good deeds is allowed to experience happiness, and whoever does evil deeds is allowed to experience suffering.
