Thus it is said. However, even if there is empowerment, if one thinks that it appears to be a connection with defilements, then is it that the defilements themselves are not seen? Or, since it arises from the complete transformation of arising, will it disappear at death? To dispel this doubt, (the scripture says:) "Antidote and one's own side, decrease and increase, because of increase." Thus it is said. Because of the decrease of the antidote and the increase of one's own side, faults increase. The continuum of faults has its own seed, it is one with similar types preceding it, but it is not one with the unseen and the great elements, etc., preceding it. If the antidote increases, then faults decrease, and if one's own side increases, then it increases. The sprout arises from its own seed, this is the explanation that was made. To dispel the doubt that liberation, which has the characteristic of being bound and freed, is not reasonable for selflessness, (the scripture says:) "If." If one admits that bondage and liberation are different, (the scripture says:) "Whatever is pure, that." The other is impure. To give an example, (the scripture says:) "Fire is extinguished." To say that they are one in name, (the scripture says:) "Even so," even if it is not an example. If someone asks, is there also an example for saying that there is a self? (The scripture says:) "For this." It is clarified by "The constant itself is without example, thus," and so on. Or, even if liberation is attained through rituals such as empowerment, it is not the self, because if it were constant, then the sequence of results such as samsara would be unreasonable, thus it is said, (the scripture says:) "The constant is without dependence." "Because it is without dependence" means that at the very time of producing one result, it is also possible to produce other results. Not only is sequential production contradictory, but action is also contradictory, thus it is connected. Because of what? It is the nature of sameness. In acting and not acting. Whatever the nature of not acting is, it is also the same at the time of acting, therefore, only not acting is reasonable, this is the doubt. If it exists at the time of enjoyment, then it also exists at the time of acting, then at the time of the actor, the enjoyer itself is contradictory, thus it is said, (the scripture says:) "Cause and effect also."
