The so-called "Lade," etc., are the entry into the Commentary on Valid Cognition. Liberation is the nature of birth, that is the meaning. To say this itself is to say "without aversion from samsara," possessing the meaning of the characteristic of liberation, not the meaning of non-birth. If you want to know what that will become, it is "tormented by suffering." Therefore, you yogis are also overwhelmed by suffering, that is the meaning. Or, if attachment to suffering is not non-attachment, nor is it its proof, then what is it? It is "taking and." Because seeing selflessness, there is no benefit to it, therefore there is no taking; because there is no harm to it, therefore there is no abandoning, it is the equanimous one, the non-attached one. If, because of being accustomed to this state, it is thought that becoming its master is not liberation, if it is not seen that this is beneficial, then how is it accustomed? How is it not accustomed? How is it that one does not become accustomed to being more attached to beneficial things and benefit itself? However, if there is no more attachment to it, then how can there be no habit? Because without habit, one will not be separated from more attachment. Therefore, this is "Gina." It has also been said: "Having become happy, or not having become suffering, from craving, whatever thought of 'I,' arises together with sentient beings." It has already been said like this. Seeing like that will not regress, and not seeing is only abiding in liberation. Merely dharma is selflessness. Equality is self and other, or taking and abandoning. If meditating on suffering will become hatred, and will not become non-attachment, then how can one meditate on "the suffering of suffering of suffering itself" and "the suffering of conditioned phenomena itself" etc. in the sutra? The answer is, it is said to be "the suffering of conditioned phenomena." The suffering that is said to be meditated upon, the suffering of suffering and change, is said with reference to the suffering of conditioned phenomena itself, not other thoughts. Then, is it itself the cause of hatred? Our suffering of conditioned phenomena itself is also a cause.

Born of karma, these are the twelve branches of dependent origination. That which arises from conditions is also the object of the view of selflessness. Suffering of formation and dependent origination, and selflessness, these two are inseparable. Seeing the suffering of formation first, and then arising selflessness, this accomplishes liberation, which is called the view of emptiness. Seeing selflessness itself is a branch of liberation, because it is the antidote to attachment. Seeing the suffering of formation and so on, is because it can generate (the view of selflessness), so it is said to be the basis, which is called the remaining practice. Merely suffering from the suffering of formation, for this, what is said is to know, so it is said, "Therefore." Selflessness is a branch of liberation, for this, what is said is "from suffering." What is taught is that because the ultimate is selflessness, it itself is a branch, that is its meaning. The meaning of the suffering of suffering is explanation. The tone of merely is to cut off the suffering of formation, not the suffering of change. Then, how did the Blessed One teach this? He said, "Those who have desire." Even if you practice it, it will not become liberation, how does practicing emptiness become liberation? He said, "Formation." The meaning of "for this" is to explain for knowing. The meaning of "this" is mine. The meaning of "this is also me" is to realize that self and non-self are inseparable. The meaning of "this is my self" is that what the mind and senses depend on, as the basis, are different. The meaning of "can it be seen" is whether it is reasonable or possible. If selflessness is not seen, then it is impermanent. Even if it is seen as suffering, it is not liberation, what can be said by returning is that whoever thinks there is a self. "How not to explain it?" He said, "Non-detachment," because the cause is stated for the result, so it is greed.
