For example, "they are women," and so on. This is to show that desire is appropriate. The statement that even if one practices it, it will not become a cause for complete purification means that it is impossible to practice the self (ātman). If one asks why, the answer is, "That self." The ultimate meaning of "because there is no practice" is the reason. Explaining how there is no practice, the answer is, "That self." Therefore, practice is meaningful. Doubting whether practice is meaningful, the answer is, "However, for a person." Answering, "Where exactly is it?" the answer is, "Even if it is burned to ashes." If one says, then will that self itself eliminate my faults? The answer is, "The nature of faults." If one asks why it is not possible, the answer is, "How are faults?" That sinful person will not become a sinless person, because in other places it will only be destroyed. In order to combine this meaning with the commentary, the answer is, "Therefore." What is closely associated with desire, etc., is the nature, because the nature that is separate from it is other. It means that, considering this, the previous self will be destroyed. How can a yogi who makes the self (ātman) the object of attachment to desire wish for that self to be destroyed? Or, how can the self that has become the object of attachment by its own nature wish for the nature of that self to be destroyed? If desire, etc., do not help me in any way, but only accompany me, and liberation is only separation from it, then my destruction is not necessary. In order to welcome this necessity, the answer is, "There is no fault" is related. If one asks why, it is explained that even if accompanied by desire, etc., that self itself, by nature, is another self, and will not become one with it. For example, when one has a stick. Similarly, my faults will not become substantial. Therefore, practice cannot eliminate this, this is someone else's thought. The answer "desire, etc." is the answer. Even if accompanied by desire, etc., which self has not experienced desire, etc., that cannot be a desirer, etc. Thinking like this

It is only experiencing various differences such as desire. Therefore, in order to dispel the doubt that those who have not experienced desire are not, it is said, "If because of experience." The answer is, "Because of women." If, because of distinguishing desire etc. with reason, I am a person with desire etc., then if that is the case, then because of knowing women, one would also become a person with the lineage of women. Who would have fault in this? Merely experiencing is not being a person with desire, but is it not because of connection? Therefore, it is said, "Because of connection." Because of connection with desire etc., it is desire itself, not merely experience. Therefore, it is thought that experiencing desire etc. will not become having its nature. The answer to this is, "Desire etc." It is thought that because of connection, one can also understand the desire etc. of others. If one knows desire etc. through the connection of gathering, one is a person with desire, but not a possessor. To dispel this doubt, it is said, "For the different." For desire etc. that are different from me, through gathering, a yogi will become a person with desire, but not a possessor. What is the difference? That self is connected with mind, and mind is connected with the self of others, because it pervades in the manner of a Brahmin. The gathering that is connected with desire etc. abiding therein. Or, the self of the yogi and the self of others are transformed by the unborn possession, and the gathering that has become possessed with desire etc. abiding therein is called possession itself. Therefore, because there is no difference, even if one is connected with the desire etc. of others, a yogi will become a person with desire. To dispel the doubt that there is a difference between gathering and possession, it is said, "Different." "Then" is the answer. If one cannot know the desire etc. that are different from me because of gathering, but one can know it because of possession. At that time, from desire etc., what measure do you want to distinguish me with? Because there is no measure that can establish difference, that is its meaning. If one does not recognize the difference in nature, then recognizing oneself is also establishing difference.
