That which is not seen by its own nature is definitely not a valid means of cognition. If it is accepted by a valid means of cognition, what fault is there? If you consider the non-seeing of non-apprehension to be a valid means of cognition, then at that time, because Īśvara is also not apprehended, he would also be refuted. If you say that this is not the case because he is established through inference, this is meaningless, because if doubt arises from mere non-apprehension, there is an opportunity for inference, but if it is definitively established as different from that, then it is not. However, when it is established that Īśvara does not exist, non-seeing is not a valid means of cognition, because it causes doubt. Therefore, do you think that it enters into inference? In that case, even from harmlessness, non-seeing alone is not a valid means of cognition. Even so, how is Īśvara established? Therefore, the difference made by harmfulness and harmlessness does not exist. Therefore, it is well established that from merely seeing co-emergence, everything is inferred from everything. Showing that the pervasion on the nature of the effect, etc., is not established by valid cognition due to the difference of the one who thinks, just like fire in smoke, is what is meant by "furthermore," etc. "Thing" means that which performs the function of meaning. Likewise, other means of proof should also be briefly indicated. Why is it not an inference? It is said with "the desire of a person," etc. If it is not like that, that is, if desire enters as the reason for establishing what is to be established, then at that time, the opposite of Īśvara should also be established. How does it follow that Īśvara does not exist? It is said that Īśvara also does not exist. Therefore, it is necessary to accept the distinction of holding without deception. The consideration of pervasion is also of two types, namely, from direct perception and inference, etc., and conversely, from valid cognition with harm. Among these, what is explained by considering direct perception and non-apprehension is "however." What is meant by "how" is what kind of meaning. "Like that" refers to the agent and the word of action in the past tense. By this, it is made known that the result of certainty is the one who understands, and the cause of certainty is the one who is to be understood, which is the abandonment of the great generality. This itself is

What is meant by "conforming to the Pramāṇavārttika"? What is meant by what shapes, etc., become like? That which infers from shapes, etc., the one who bestows blessings, the one with thought, that is the very reason. What is it like, and the one who bestows blessings is also like that, the existence and non-existence of that which follows, if shapes, etc., are established, then from shapes, etc., that which infers such a bestower of blessings, that is the very reason. Here, pots, etc., are pervasive for other kinds, and mountains, etc., become other kinds, therefore, since it begins to infer, how can there be following validity? This is its meaning. If that is the case, then "sound is impermanent, because it is produced, like a pot" this is also not an inference, because there are very different kinds, if asked. No, because by making a pot a close example, by the conceptual mind arising after direct perception as the object, wanting to know that the general, which is not distinguished by the difference of non-fruit, is only pervaded by impermanence. If one can apply an inference that harms the opposite, then at that time impermanence itself can be inferred, otherwise it is not. Sometimes, if this object of the nature of fire is not there, when this is seen at other times in the object of smoke that was not previously seen, because that seeing is the result, it depends on the giving of a special pervasion. Similarly, if there is no such object of the nature of a person, or just a thinker, how can there be no completely visible pots, etc.? If it exists, because existence is the result of that, pervasion is established on the difference of the result, but not only on the result, because before the action of the thinker, the opposite of only the result is not established. Before the action of fire, the opposite of only smoke is established. Therefore, it is the nature of the difference of the result that is established, not only the result. If smoke also has internal differences such as those arising from leaves, if asked. Yes, but if those are also the kinds arising after direct perception
