If one thinks like that, it is said, "This way is." What is called "that itself" refers to complete arising, it is existence itself. The permanent dharmas are connected because they have no power. Because the permanent dharmas have no power, they are not the complete arising itself, therefore the desire for existence itself, which is the characteristic of completely grasping arising, is the cause of suffering. If one asks where this comes from, it is because the differences in the places of sentient beings in the world are completely grasped, and it is seen as being done by wanting to pervade the places. Actions, bodies, ignorance, and so on are the causes, but the cause of becoming the difference in places is the action of existence itself, and what is said as "Is it another cause?" is what it means. In order to clarify this, the reason for saying "Is it action?" is "If there is no desire." Even if it is the action of completely grasping, how does obtaining birth become like that? "It is also completely grasping" is what it means. Because the complete grasping connected to birth is not other, therefore this complete arising connected to birth is existence itself. Because it is the action of making it reach, therefore craving itself is complete arising. If one asks what the difference between craving and desire is, the answer is "That is that itself," meaning that craving is desire. If one thinks that craving alone is not the origin, because the sutra says that the three, such as craving for desire, are the origin, in order to eliminate this doubt, the answer is "If it is a place." What is called craving is the form of pursuing future beings. Also, because it is needed by craving, it is also the cause of arising. Joy and attachment, these two are mixed together, because they arise confusedly in the continuum of birth and death, not because they are equally possessed, because the two attachments are not equally possessed. Among them, joy is the afflicted cognition that focuses on the present object. Attachment is the clinging itself that focuses on the future object. It can be said that, for future sentient beings, afflicted cognition and clinging completely arise.

Therefore, it is also desirable for what has become such, or for a future that is more excellent than that. How do those who, like me, delight in the very nature of things and are liberated from desire, seek future things? The so-called "those who manifestly delight in that and that" means the aspect of seeking after all things such as existence and enjoyment. Among them, the aspect of seeking after the desire realm is the craving for desire. Because it has been desired, desire is form and so on. For those who perceive as essential those things that are full of meaninglessness and devoid of essence, the craving for pleasure that arises from habituation from beginningless existence is called the craving for desire. Seeking form and formlessness is the craving for existence. Desiring to be free from suffering is the craving for annihilation. The word "also" in "from what" has the meaning of جمع, because it is related, it will become "that also". The craving for existence alone is not the desire for existence, but it is also that. What is "that"? From which desire do sentient beings devoid of wisdom enter? If you think about how they enter, it is because they desire to obtain and abandon things related to pleasure and pain. Here, it is said that craving with objects such as necessities is the cause of entering. In the sutras, the desire to obtain and abandon pleasure and pain is distinguished, and it is expressed by the words craving for desire, existence, and annihilation, which means that those are the desires for desire and annihilation. If you think about how that could be such a desire for existence, that is what is said, "which this". The word "etc." includes things that have happiness and are free from suffering. The meaning is that the word existence is a synonym for samsara, that is, samsara, place, necessities, having happiness, and being free from suffering. Therefore, desire also arises in three forms. The desire for existence is all, not just one. The distinction of this is desire and so on. What clearly shows the distinction is "which one".

The word "etc." makes one understand the near necessities. That which is not contradictory is called "that." Explaining the truth of the origin is referring to "desire for existence." Therefore, all three of these cravings are the truth of the origin, and the difference in entering is the establishment of three paths, which is the meaning of the present context. Craving itself is the cause of birth, and to establish this from another perspective, it is said "attachment to self." "All" refers to places and near necessities, etc. The cause of the perception of happiness in what is not happiness is attachment to self, and not anything else. Because it is the cause of entering, existence itself is the basis of craving. If one wonders how this teaching is reasonable since there is no self, it is said "grasping at self." Among them, attachment, which is another name for craving, is the cause because it brings benefit. If one doubts how it is the cause, after repeating and explaining the root verse "completely entering from all," it is "places and enjoyments, etc." If one asks who enters, it is said "those who are harmed by the four inversions." This is a detailed explanation of "perceiving as happiness." Therefore, it is because it is the cause. If one asks where this comes from, it is said "having compassion." One who is separated from craving for self will not enter places and enjoyments, etc., but if one has compassion, it will change. Therefore, "except for those who have compassion." "That" refers to the one who has compassion. Because one is not tormented by the suffering of samsara, it is not the cause of samsara. Therefore, the nature of craving always arises together with doubt. That is the (doubt) of the mind. If craving does not exist, it will not arise, therefore it is the cause (of birth). Then, without a body, it will not arise either, so does that also become a cause? To express the meaning of this detailed explanation, it is "if the cause itself also." "How" is a detailed explanation of the meaning of the words.
