Thus it is said. If consciousness is not caused by the difference of things established by direct perception, nor is it caused by blue, etc., nor is it different in nature from what precedes and follows. If it is not like this, then it will not arise, and this is to be understood from the conceptualization arising from one's own experience. If one does not accept the presumption that it is to be understood by that, then it will become undifferentiated and merely consciousness, and in that case, the distinction between the grasped and the grasper, and blue, etc., will not be possible. Then, from where does the distinction come? Therefore, it is said that because one later infers about self-awareness, it is consciousness associated with the conceptualization of inference. Or, because it is the cause of inference, it is inference, that is, what is made. Among all the names called what is made, the name of inference that has the characteristic of entering and exiting, or the name of inference that has a definite sign as its leader, is what is made. Because the difference is like this, therefore. The name of inference is as before. Because it is like this, not abandoning what is seen, therefore. From "which ones" to "as it is" is clear. What is seen is a garland of flowers and sandalwood, etc. What is not seen is the next world, etc. Ignorance is seeing it as existent. If the difference between consciousness and things is not changed by direct perception, but by what should be abandoned and what should be discarded, in order to welcome this doubt, what is said is: what should be taken and what should be discarded. The difference between what should be taken and what should be discarded is also not established by direct perception, that is its meaning. If what should be taken and what should be discarded are not other than the nature to be understood by direct perception, then why cannot direct perception understand it? To welcome this doubt, "this is" is said. It is the accomplisher of suffering, the nature that depends on the result. By the direct perception that only holds its own nature, what is understood, only what is not understood. For that very reason, it is said that one does not understand the accomplisher of happiness other than that, what should be taken, that is not right, that is, what should be discarded. If it changes only by direct perception

Only the immutable. How to not make the ultimate nature of the fruit manifest, in order to extensively show that, the discrimination made is what is called "the very nature of what should be taken." Establishing it as the very nature of what should be taken, is it because it is the accomplisher of happiness? Or, the very nature of what should be abandoned, the accomplisher of suffering, comes from cessation, thus there are two kinds of discrimination. Establishing it as the very nature of what should be abandoned is also, it comes from the opposite of establishing it as the very nature of what should be taken, because it is the accomplisher of suffering? Or, the accomplisher of happiness comes from cessation, what is said like this is what is called "the very nature of what should be abandoned," the establishment is connected like this. "Comes from the opposite" means it comes from the opposite of establishing it as the very nature of what should be taken. Regarding this, for the time being, happiness is not directly perceived, because the accomplisher of happiness in things cannot be known by direct perception, what is said like this is what is called "meaning making meaning." There is doubt about things like burning. Action, that is, the agent itself, is "that." If what should be taken is like that, then that is not seen by the direct perception that holds the nature of closeness, those who want to enter from that direct perception. Because it is not seen, therefore the very entity of what should be taken is unknown, this is how it is connected. If you want to know how it is not seen by direct perception, it is said, "direct perception will arise." This clarifies the reason why it is the very nature of what should be taken. The side of ceasing the very nature of what should be abandoned comes from cessation, which is what is called "what should be abandoned." Where is the very nature of what should be abandoned ceased? It is non-existence. What should be abandoned is beyond the senses, because the accomplisher of suffering is not directly perceived. Because what should be abandoned is not directly perceived in that way, therefore knowing that this what should be taken does not have the entity of what should be abandoned, this does not come from direct perception, it means it does not follow the function of the senses. Similarly, it should also be understood that the establishment of what should be abandoned coming from the opposite is also non-existent. From the reason just stated, from the aspect of merely holding what exists in its own time, neither of the two direct perceptions that arise in sequence can hold what is to be proven and the entity of accomplishment.
