there is a difference. The elements with physical forms are no different from fruits, sentient beings, etc., because they arise from this. Attachment and so on are not divine, therefore, what arises from this can be understood as having a special hierarchy. Understanding it in this way, attachment and so on exist among those elements with physical forms. Why is it said so? Because the sutra says "having excellent increase and decrease," that is, because there is increase and decrease. When it cannot be produced due to decrease, it becomes a state of non-attachment, that is its meaning. For things that have not appeared before, attachment and so on arise uncertainly. Explaining the meaning mainly with these three and a half verses is related to what is said, being refuted by others. Where is it refuted? That is, "attachment and so on." Then what is refuted? That is, it is related to "earth and so on." If so, it means refuting. The so-called "in other places" refers to non-sentient beings such as trees. The so-called "if different" refers to having a hierarchy of size. The so-called "originating from the difference of elements" is affirmative. The so-called "becoming different" refers to attachment and so on having a hierarchy of size. The so-called "similarly" refers to being like becoming different. The so-called "even so" refers to even having excellence and decrease. Because it is the cause, it will not change, because it is necessary to investigate. Therefore, "attachment and so on will not be exhausted" is the meaning of doubt. If the causes of attachment and so on are not different, then how does generality change? If it exists in other continuums, isn't it the attachment of other continuums? What is said is that attachment originates from the elements with physical forms, and it is also said in the same way for the cause. If it exists, it must become attachment, this is the conclusion. If it is said "because this has not exceeded the nature of the elements" and so on, hasn't the doubt already been eliminated? Yes, because there was a disease of decrease in attachment before, so some are greedy

To refute the inference that "one will also become free from attachment," the doubt is greeted with "because it does not go beyond the nature of arising." Now, because the cause of desire has the disease of decline, to answer the inference that "some will also become free from it," the doubt is greeted with "if attachment, etc." Therefore, the doubts are different. Thinking that there is no fault even if there is no difference in tenets for that very reason, it is said, "Having a cause of the same nature." The same nature is merely the elements that have the form of a body. Regarding the statement "Even if the cause is the same," "that way" means "at that time," and the same refers only to the elements. If it is said that even if the cause is the same, the result will become different, then it is said, "The cause is the same." If it is said that if the elements are not different, the result will become different, then saying "not the result of the elements" means "even if the cause is not the same." Desire, etc., refers to those elements. Why? Because it is said, "Following it." Because now there is no reason to say that a cause without difference will produce a result with difference. However, it is reasonable only because the cause has a difference. "To whom" refers to the difference of the elements, or to desire, etc. How will it disappear? The answer is "decline." What will it become like? The answer is "white, etc." For example, just as white, etc., disappear in some cases because of disease, so is the cause of desire. Or, because it is the same, it is said that there is no reason, not only do the elements arise, but because it is similar, it will not decline either. To illustrate this example, the question is asked, "Why?" The answer is "the same subject," etc. Is the same subject the cow itself? Or is the cognition of a cow that arises from returning from something that is not a cow without difference? Are the earth, etc., here also, are life, etc., not a different order? This is how it is connected. It should be understood that it is another example. Considering the view of the world's heretics (note: referring to schools that do not believe in Buddhism).
