When one understands the blue that is gathered from sound, one will also understand the one who possesses gathering. However, for those who possess gathering, etc., gathering is not understood. When one understands the one who possesses gathering, one will also understand the *utpala* that is gathered in it, therefore, saying *utpala* is meaningless. If attaching sound is for the purpose of understanding meaning, then if meaning can be understood in any way, what is the use of attaching sound? Therefore, they think that it will not become a common basis. It is very clear that for *mthon ting*, etc., only a slight difference in color exists in this form. Therefore, even without a special meaning, specialty is understood. To dispel the doubt of confusion is *mthon ting*, etc. This is also another meaning of the special meaning of blue. This shows that, as said, the combination itself is not unestablished. If sometimes it is like that, even if it is like that, from where is it certain? To eliminate this uncertainty, what is said is "as it is, directly perceived." For direct perception, understanding the one who possesses gathering itself is understanding gathering, because there is no other reason. Even if one holds the one who possesses gathering, one will not hold gathering, how is the application of sound in other aspects? Furthermore, to those who say that there is obvious attachment to things, one should ask: Is blue certain or uncertain for *utpala*? In either case, because the sound of *utpala* is not attached, where will it become a common basis? To illustrate this is "if," etc. "Blue itself" is holding the subject through the way of showing the dharma. If the blue that is certain for *utpala* is what is to be expressed, then when such blue is understood through the sound of blue, because *utpala* will also be understood, the sound of *utpala* is meaningless. Or, if crows and cuckoos, etc., which are not *utpala*, have the quality of blue, then at that time the common nature of blue will be understood through the sound of blue, and even if that is the case, because there is no common basis like a vase and a blanket, it is not necessary for understanding special meaning, therefore the sound of *utpala* is meaningless. Or, blue itself only exists in other things. If that is the case, then the collection of meanings that is expressed by the sound of blue.
