Just as the cause of transforming the Dharma of a person into something else, so too, truly realizing the Dharma of a person is also the cause of truthfully proclaiming it. Therefore, if a person is inverted in every way, then it is neither the true meaning nor the inverted meaning. However, the Vedas would only become meaningless. Therefore, for a mind defiled by desire and the like, following the indications made by persons and the like, which appear to be meaningful, is not to regard the words of the Vedas as valid, just like a stack of grass and the like. Therefore, hearing the words of the Vedas and appearing to be meaningful, just like a stack of grass and the like, following the indications made by those who are nearly defiled by desire and the like, is not to become valid, that is what is thought. Just as what is done by a person, what is not done by a person is also not valid due to the fault of thought, and the loss of things and connections, this is what is shown by: The place of the fault of worldly thought. This means that the fault of thought leads to sound not being valid. Everything that is said in the world is because of the loss of things and connections, and this loss of things and connections also applies to the Vedas, so how can it be said that the Vedas are valid? If, like fire and smoke, the connection between sound and meaning is the thing itself, then because the will of a person cannot intervene, all sounds will become valid. However, if relying on will itself is unavoidable, then the connection is not the thing itself, what is the difference between what is done by a person and what is not done? That is what is thought. If it is not seen that the language and meaning of the world itself are defiled? If you doubt how can you follow it and say that the Vedas are also defiled? Therefore it is said: Language and meaning are in the world. For those sounds that have become language and meaning, seeing the sound whose meaning is defiled, it is the same for the Vedas, how can the Vedas not be defiled? Thus, even if the Vedas are not made by a person, they may be defiled, in order to restore the destroyed validity in other ways, what others say is the Vedas themselves. Because it does not intervene itself.
