Because it is not related to external objects. For that very reason, the standard of measurement is only the object determined by the speaker's intention. But it is not certain whether things are so or otherwise. The meaning is that if the sounds are caused by the speaker's faults, isn't that a defect? As it is said: For things made by people, it is appropriate to examine whether there are faults. Because there is no author, in the Vedas, we have no definite doubts. Although other scriptures are not the standard of measurement, if it is not man-made, then there is no sound that is not made by man, which will be explained later. The meaning of explaining later is that it can be understood from its statement that there is a speaker. If it is not man-made, then what is it? The answer is that the man-made itself changes. It is only man-made, because it can be seen that how the order is arranged changes according to human intention. The "also" here means that language exists in a man-made state. The explanation of the verses is that the speaker and so on. If one wants to speak, from intention arises effort, from effort arises the nature of being combined with place and action, isn't that human action? So, why is intention itself action? The answer is that from the effort to urge expression, the urger itself is not other. Therefore, the human effort itself is what urges the throat and so on to make sounds, and now because it depends on intention, it attributes the result to the cause, saying that that is the action. This also has two situations: one is to urge the combination of words to enter expression, wanting to express this meaning; the other is to urge the words of proof to enter expression. This should not be grasped here, because this is the time to express the meaning. Therefore, when grasping at the beginning, the speaker's intention to express means to regard the author as the speaker. The intention to express means wanting to express the meaning. In general, the meaning of expression is: expression

Now, it is about the meaning of the object to be expressed, and so on. The so-called "object to be expressed" clearly expresses the intention of the speaker. Like two people with cataracts, because of clinging to the appearance as one, it appears to both the speaker and the listener, and therefore it is called a name. In reality, it is merely the state of knowing the differences individually. Because of that difference itself, it is said that "for that itself, sound is not a valid means of knowledge," this is in relation to the state of mind of the speaker as the cause, because the result is to infer the state of mind of the speaker. The so-called "function of sound lies in itself" refers to what exists in the mind of the comprehender, because that is the result of sound. This is what is being said: If, proceeding from self-conceit, what exists in the mind of the speaker also exists in the mind of the comprehender, even so, because it is related to both, it is the name of both. If one doubts that there is no certainty that "what exists in the mind of the speaker is exactly what needs to be indicated," because it can be seen elsewhere, then the answer is, it is about wanting to express something else, and so on. Even so, the so-called "wanting to express something else" means thinking of something else and expressing something else, the state of mind of the speaker or the external object is not a valid means of knowledge, this is very clear. Precisely because there is no cause and effect there, it is good that it has been proven through the adornment of reason that sound is a valid means of knowledge for the particularity of what is to be expressed. This is what is being said: For the particularity of wanting to express a definite meaning, we have no doubt that sounds are valid means of knowledge, but we merely say that it is not a valid means of knowledge for external objects. If, through the path of differentiation, one also denies that it is a valid means of knowledge for the particularity of what is to be expressed, then at that time there is not even a little valid means of knowledge for certainty. It is only in conventional terms that one says that what one wants to express is the bright red to be proven, but in reality it is not so. Again, how is it that sounds are valid means of knowledge for the object to be expressed, but not for the reasoned nature of the thing itself? If one doubts, that which is to be expressed also
