That which is known as fame is the abiding of the function that makes things clear, but it is not the meaning of self-nature. What is explained here is the self-nature of consciousness, and so on. One should think about this in this way: the very fact of being unfailing is the reason for applying the term "unfailing." Merely understanding one's own nature is not the reason for applying the term "unfailing," because that would lead to the overextension of also understanding the thought, "This is valid cognition." But that is not the case, so self-nature itself is not unfailing. What, then, is such a case? The question of "what exists that allows the application of the term 'unfailing'" is the remainder. The answer is from "cooking" to "is unfailing." The phrase "function is established" indicates that it is the dharma of function. The phrase "of these," etc., in the context, is to eliminate the intention of explanation being the dharma of the author. Because there is no certainty of obtaining things like cooking, it is unreasonable to think that unfailing is the very consciousness that accomplishes it. If one is deceived in what is to be accomplished, such as cooking, then where is the unfailingness in the self-nature of the consciousness that accomplishes it? If it is merely hope, then by hope alone, what is to be accomplished is also established, because without an object, ease itself is not easily understood. If the wisdom to be accomplished is unstable, then the necessary realization of the nature of the accomplisher is also unstable. The sound of ease also expresses the uncertain state of the function of the consciousness that accomplishes. Those who seek function also wish to call the unfailingness of function unfailing. If this is done, then the establishment of the function itself is unfailing. "Reliance" refers to speaking in terms of the general meaning. "Abiding" refers to being non-dual with one's own intention. At that time, for the consciousness that appears there, it is merely established as function, and this is the occasion of the general characteristic. If, for the thing to be functioned upon, just as with the self-nature of consciousness, it is close at that time, and the very connection with it at that time allows one to know that it is unfailing, then what is the use of examining?

If it is said that that action is there, then it is also said, "That which can perform the function." The term "at that time" refers to the time of the wisdom that accomplishes. The term "existent" refers to the remainder. The term "related to it" refers to being related to the thing that will arise and perform the function. The term "if" refers to an argument, and being related to it refers to being related to the thing to be done. The meaning of the tenet is this: the reason for the application of the sound of relation is either a relation that has become a real thing, or a completely imputed one, but it is more excellent. Or it is something that has a relation, or it is the two things themselves that are mutually related. Even if it is shown as a thing, it is not possible to establish a difference merely by that. In either case, the answer is the so-called "relation that abides in both." Among them, the first case is very clear. In the second case, the relation that abides in the two is the nature of becoming related, and it is not understood only in one, because without relying on the other, it is not appropriate to establish a term. Therefore, if it is the knowledge of the respective nature of the two, then knowing the nature of becoming related becomes the wisdom of knowing the relation. As before, even if it is shown as a thing, it will be grasped as one dharma. Therefore, if one grasps one, then it will change only by knowing the self-nature, but it is not certain that the desired difference will change. If, for the time being, one makes a statement about things that are more related to those things, is it not necessary to determine some difference that is different from everything? That difference itself is the nature of being related to the thing that can perform the function, so even if one vows that it is not deceptive, it will not become a fault of speech. If, again, it is because there is no difference from wisdom, even if one grasps the difference of self-awareness that knows one's own nature, it is not certain that there is no doubt, because "completely abandoning the part of difference, even if one grasps it with direct perception" and so on have been extensively explained. And even if one grasps a tree with branches, it is only the tree itself, because one sees uncertain situations such as moments. Therefore, even if one completely determines the thing, the opportunity to fully examine it is established because of the possibility that all differences are uncertain. Since this is the case, what is the use of other places for leisure that did not exist before? Therefore,
