If it is admitted that consciousness and mental direct perception are different, then there is no opportunity for other faults. Happiness, etc., self-awareness is also direct perception like mental direct perception. Then, wouldn't the nature of conceptualization become non-direct perception? No. Because all mind and mental factors are direct perception of self-awareness. It is for the purpose of grasping happiness, etc. There is a debate about this: Since conceptualization does not have the nature of being separate from conceptualization, how can it be valid as direct perception? Because the very nature of conceptualization is not without conceptualization. But if consciousness is conceptualization of the object, but not of its own nature? If conceptualization of the object, wouldn't it become conceptualization of its own nature as well? Because there is no nature of conceptualization except for conceptualizing the very nature of the object. Here is the answer: Happiness, etc., their own nature does not depend on others, and they are incapable of expressing. Therefore, these are self-aware, not verbal and subsequent related. That is to say, whatever the nature of happiness, etc., is incapable of expressing, that is its nature. Why? Because it does not depend on others, that is, it is uncommon, it is the object of self-awareness. If the nature of happiness is abandoned, there is no awareness of happiness. How can there be any involvement of speech and association in the nature of happiness that has become like that? If the previous one was the awareness of happiness, and later another consciousness performs speech and combination? No. Because when other consciousnesses arise, happiness, etc., do not exist. Because in the previous time, other consciousnesses were aware of happiness. At that time, it will not become the awareness of happiness, because happiness, etc., must be known as the aspect of the previous entity. Just like other awareness of happiness. If other consciousnesses arise simultaneously with happiness and combine speech? At that time, isn't the newly generated happiness being directly perceived by oneself? Why combine sound? If the awareness of happiness is accompanied by conceptualization because it holds what can be mixed with speech? Isn't happiness devoid of speech? How can it be mixed?

If it is to be known, aren't happiness and the appearance of sound, etc., appearing simultaneously, seeming not to be able to be confused? Therefore, in the very moment of arising now, grasping happiness, etc., is precisely because of clarity, experiencing non-discrimination. If it is said that the appearance of mind should be known as having discrimination, that is not the case. The very nature of the appearance of mind is also self-awareness, which is non-discriminating; it is not an external appearance. Therefore, since it arises at the time of awareness, how could it become an object of discrimination? Therefore, all mind and mental factors are self-aware and non-discriminating. If that is the case, then how could consciousness become discrimination in relation to objects? Because discrimination does not see objects. If it is also said that discrimination is that which holds objects, then even now it is experiencing the very nature of objects, how could it become discrimination? If it is said that because one imputes the appearance of objects onto the appearance of consciousness, it is said to be with discrimination, then if one abandons grasping and non-grasping, the meaning of imputation has no meaning, and if it is said that both aspects of grasping and non-grasping are non-discriminating, then, in response to this, it is said that worldly people consider the consciousness that clings to an unmanifest appearance to be discrimination, and the consciousness of manifest pride in a manifest appearance is said to be manifest. Ultimately, all awareness is non-discriminating, because self-awareness itself is non-discriminating. Furthermore, due to the power of habit, some consciousnesses that arise in relation to objects following what was previously seen are discriminating, because seeing arises in connection with objects and follows the nature of closeness, therefore it is non-discriminating. The appearance of happiness is also self-aware, and because it is free from discrimination, it is non-discriminating. Because the nature of happiness, etc., cannot serve as a signifier, happiness, etc., are self-aware, and are connected with words that express clearly and follow expression. Others say: If those are not other-knowing, then how does one know one's own nature? Some say that awareness is through consciousness relying on a single basis. To that which is said like this, for the moment.
