It is different supports. Just as the consciousness covered by yellow cataract sees white as yellow due to different supports. Eyes obscured by blurred vision also see unclearly. Similarly, if it is said that here, the consciousness arising from the proximity of the eye faculty completely cuts off the nature of clarity, while the consciousness arising from following sound grasps it as unclear. If that is the case, then do you now admit that appearances differ due to different supports? How is it known that ear consciousness and so on have different objects? Therefore, the establishment as different will be lost. Just as for sounds and so on, it can also be said that appearances differ due to different supports. But the conch appearing yellow is not true. Similarly, the consciousness arising from sound also has other aspects, so it will become confused. Furthermore, the support of the mind is other and other, if arising is one thing, its form is different, from what does the appearance of various aspects arise? Regarding this, although the support of the mind of direct perception and the mind of sound arise from different causes, in some cases such as the eye it is so, and in other cases, the nature of the sound and effort etc., that particular determined thing itself, appearing in various aspects, comes from what? Because the causes are different, the consciousnesses are different, but the meanings are not different. The meaning of blue and so on is only one, and the consciousness of sound holds it as one way, because there is no unclear aspect in the meaning, so it should appear. Therefore, since the object of sense consciousness is the nature that cannot be indicated, it is non-conceptual direct perception. Because from non-conceptual direct perception, in conventional truth, it grasps the connection between dharma and the possessor of dharma, inference is established, as previously shown. If it is said that the object of the eye faculty appears clear, and the object of sound appears unclear, but after seeing it, because it is recognized as "that is this", it is the same. To this it is answered: Without seeing, there is no non-conceptual, speech and discrimination arise, recognizing things like cows, contradiction with seeing is established.

That which is called this, the recognition that arises after seeing cows and so on, that is also refuted. How is it refuted? Speech and conceptualization do not conceptualize the things seen, because they enter without grasping, so these have already been pointed out. Therefore, how can recognition grasp objects? If it is said that by seeing the sound and knowledge that follow, one should infer the genus, then, therefore, it is said: Seeing cows and so on, there is genus. Speech and various conceptualizations, From what follows, what is inferred? That is also refuted by this. This means that from the speech and various conceptualizations that follow, whatever is inferred about the aggregates of cows and so on that are seen, whether it is genus or qualities, is also refuted by this, that is, by the fact that speech and conceptualization enter into seeing things without grasping. Speech and conceptualization do not grasp objects, because appearances are different. Therefore, the mere following of speech does not accomplish the meaning. Then, if the genus does not exist, how can statements such as "that cow is this one" exist? Here it is said: Although the seeing itself is different, The conceptualization called recognition, One conceptualization is by nature, It is said to do. This means that although the knowledge that grasps each other as different is different, it is by nature, not because it possesses genus, just as the conceptualization called recognition is made into one. This was previously shown: Thus, although knowledge is different, It generates a conceptualization without difference. Therefore, it shows the genus and so on that arise from the awakening of the habits of conceptualization, and the direct perception is an object that cannot be spoken of. The mind is also objects and desire, etc., awareness is without conceptualization. The explanation of that sutra is: The mind is also the nature of objects and desire, etc., awareness is the direct perception without conceptualization, because it is the way of entering into experience. Its meaning is this: The direct perception of the mind is not only sense consciousness, but also objects such as blue and desire, etc.
