Because for all the various forms such as blue, the appearance of the mind with various objects is itself unique. Because it has various objects such as blue, therefore the non-conceptual mind is established. Why? When variegated colors appear, the various forms such as blue, even with the discrimination of blue, one can also see other colors such as yellow. Because multiple discriminations do not arise simultaneously. If it is said that by the discrimination of "variegated color", all things such as blue can be seen, that is not correct. Because it is uncertain, it is definitely not the case that the appearance of variegated color exists in the discrimination itself called "variegated color", because one discrimination can also see various forms. Thus, it is established that one mind has the form of variegated color. Here is a debate: For the various objects that appear in various ways, if they are not unique, then how can that mind be unique for a while, and how can it appear in multiple ways? For the objects such as variegated butterflies that have various appearances, if they are not unique, then how can one think that the mind that appears variegated is unique? How can one admit that the mind with the form of variegated color is unique? Therefore, the various external objects also become unique, because the mind is of various natures. If things are of multiple forms, then what appears to the mind at that time is the nature of various natures, therefore the mind also becomes of various natures, and the mind is not different. Therefore, the example of the variegated mind itself becomes uncertain, because it is various, so it is not those. Here it is said: How one thinks of things, so it becomes peaceful. What the wise say, that is due to the power of things. The intention here is: If the mind is unique, then it is not various, because it has multiple forms, and because it is the characteristic of various things. Surely if the forms are multiple, then the objects also become multiple. Therefore, why not admit those minds that separately determine each object? Why think that the form of variegated color is unique?

It is acknowledged. However, if the consciousness of each thing is different, since atoms exist, consciousness also exists. If it is said that each atom will also be seen, that is not correct. Because there is no awareness among the many, because consciousnesses are mutually unrelated, and because other things cannot recognize themselves. If it is said that self-aware consciousnesses appear as various phenomena, that is also not correct, because consciousnesses existing in other continuums will also appear as various phenomena. Therefore, the realization that "consciousness is diverse" does not arise. If consciousness is one, then it cannot be many forms, because how can one thing have many forms? If it is many, how can it not become chaotic? To this, the wise who see reality say that however one thinks about the oneness and multiplicity of things, the nature of outer and inner will become non-existent, which comes from the power of things themselves. As it is said, "Consciousness is empty of the nature of consciousness." Therefore, all phenomena should be emptiness. If the manifested object cannot be prevented by the thoughts of oneness and multiplicity, then even if it is examined by the thoughts of oneness and multiplicity, it is still understood as an object, just as the illusion and mirage of the moon in water are not true, but appear to all beings. If the image of the moon in the water and so on can also be seen, how can it be said that it is not true? Because it is separated from function, and what exists has the characteristic of function. Merely seeing does not mean that it exists, because even if the eyes deceived by cataracts see two moons in the sky, they will be sure that they do not exist. In that case, not all consciousnesses are non-existent, because some appear to be functional. For example, some things that are seen are functional, but merely appearing is not functional. That function is also different from what appears as blue and so on, while what appears as touch and so on is not different.
