Then, what is the aggregation formed by clinging to itself? However, atoms do not appear to have self-nature. If the wisdom with the aspect of aggregated atoms arises, is that proof of aggregation? (Answer:) Aggregation is just an imputation of cognition, like forests and so on. In general, the wisdom that grasps the commonality of all atoms is related to conceptual thought. Therefore, isn't it difficult to obtain non-conceptual perception when eye consciousness and so on grasp the general characteristic? (Answer:) It is said: Because of the connection with other meanings and the manifest, whatever other atom arises and changes, those accumulations are spoken of, and that is also the reason for the arising of knowledge. Because of the connection with the cause of establishing other meanings different from atoms, from the previous atoms, whatever other atom, in any place that can accommodate, the atom that arises as the cause of knowledge, the scripture says that it itself is the accumulation, which has the aspect of accumulation. Other accumulations do not exist. Because that which arises as a special atom is the reason for the arising of manifest knowledge. Then, if the atom itself is the cause of knowledge of mutual difference, then, will it appear? (Answer:) Aren't combs and other unmixed things also not appearing as unmixed from a long distance? Similarly, if even if it does not appear as different, the atom can still establish its own appearance, then what fault is there here? If so, then the thing itself appears

Regarding the statement that everything is without conceptualization, it should be said that all cognitions with conceptualization are desirable, because they appear as their own aspects. Relying on the tenets of others, the distinction between with and without conceptualization is shown. Regarding the state of external objects, that which makes external objects manifest is direct perception, and the conceptualization of recollection is conceptualization. Because it does not exist in direct perception, it is called cognition without conceptualization. Then, why doesn't the atom itself, without relying on each other, generate consciousness? Here it is said: Without other atoms, the distinction of atoms does not exist either. Therefore, one atom has no certainty, so it is said in the scriptures that consciousness has a common object. That is to say, the distinction that can generate aspects for the consciousness of atoms does not exist without other atoms, but depends on the collection of those atoms. Then, how can it arise without relying on each other? And how can it appear without relying on each other? Therefore, because one atom has no certainty, the treatises say that consciousness has a common object. These can show the meaning of "there, in order to generate many meanings, having a common object on its own object." Commentary on the Pramāṇavārttika, tenth chapter. If it is said that even in the same birthplace, many cannot appear simultaneously, then, even though atoms are of the same birthplace, because the wheel of many atoms cannot appear simultaneously, from the perspective of connecting with the meaning of what was seen before, holding the aspect of atoms is with conceptualization, because it is connected with the meaning elicited by seeing different atoms from each other. Direct perception is not without conceptualization. Seeing one is not also completely cutting off many at the same time, because the mind is the same, it is able to recognize the object, but it cannot completely cut off many atoms at the same time. Therefore, should we admit things with limbs? To this, it is said here: For sesame seeds and other different things, why does it appear to be held simultaneously?

If all the subtle particles do not appear simultaneously, then the previous subtle particles, when mixed, will become differentiated. And this can also be established as non-differentiated by manifesting the unmixed, minute subtle particles. The mixing of the previous subtle particles is just other consciousness. Furthermore, if it is not possible to completely ascertain things simultaneously, then why do sesame seeds, beans, meat, peas, grains, and other things that do not possess each other in a definite place appear to be held simultaneously? If it is said that because consciousness operates very quickly, the different sesame seeds appear simultaneously, then, it is answered: Here, the quick response has already been answered. When these arise in sequence, why is it not that they are held as non-sequential? All simultaneous minds, some of them appear non-sequential, why are others sequential? Therefore, for holding all things, this would become the fault of being non-sequential. For simultaneous holding, the answer here using "because of quickness" as the reason has already been answered with "letters will be heard simultaneously." Furthermore, Because of quickness, it appears as non-simultaneous, but it is thought to be a simultaneous appearance. If it is understood in this way, for example, quickly piercing a hundred lotus petals, it seems as if they are pierced simultaneously, other situations should also be like that. This is not acceptable, because merely using a metaphor cannot establish what needs to be proven. Furthermore, piercing a hundred lotus petals, the things located above and below, because they are not pierced simultaneously, it is established by inferring the sequence. For sesame seeds, there is no hindrance to seeing them simultaneously, and without hindrance, the simultaneous appearance is not established as inverted. Furthermore, for those sesame seeds that inherently have a sequential arising state, why, when they appear quickly, are they not held as non-sequential? Furthermore, minds that have the characteristic of being momentary, in what situation do they have simultaneity? All such minds are changing, because they are not momentary. There is no different time between minds. Therefore, among those minds, some minds appear as non-sequential for sesame seeds and the like that have sequence, while why do other minds appear as sequential for those sesame seeds and the like that arise sequentially?
