All things to be expressed are shown by analyzing and combining what is to be understood. If a sound cannot be understood, then it is not a combination. The self-nature of the direct is understood through the name that relies on the senses. That which relies on the senses is direct, and that which is uncertain by the disturbed senses is clear. The nature of what is to be understood should also be definitely combined. Therefore, it is conventionally designated as "direct" through the gate of the senses. If there is no confusion with the object, because the moon is not the object of illusory consciousness, then this is not true. If the moon is not an object, then how does it become the direct object of other people? That which arises from the senses is related to the presence or absence of one sense. The senses are the unique cause, the reason for naming, but not the object, because it is common to all beings. Therefore, it is said that what is called "the sprout of barley" appears as a unique designation. If it is thought that "relying on the object" means consciousness that has the nature of the object, then self-awareness itself becomes direct, but that which arises from the senses cannot be understood. If it is said that it holds the object because of worldly fame, that is not true. It is sufficient that the very term "direct" is well-known in the world, why would other expressions be needed? In the view of the Vaibhashikas, the mental consciousness also becomes direct because it holds the object. However, the object is common, because it is the cause of the mental consciousness and the consciousness that exists in other causes. Therefore, by expressing with the sound of the senses, the direct can be depicted as the very nature that is separate from conception, but not by expressing with the sound of the object. If it is possible to show separation from conception even by expressing the object, because it arises from the power of the thing, then this is not true. When two moons appear, it does not arise from the thing. Therefore, that is conception.

it will not change. However, if it is said that the inverted knowledge born from the power of things does not exist, if that is the case, then since all direct perception arises from things, it cannot be said to be non-conceptual. Because in that case, everything born from sensory defects will become non-conceptual, therefore it is reasonable to apply terms using the words of the senses themselves. Therefore, for this term: \tThe sign of self-nature should definitely be combined, \tThe entity that pervades and acts, \tBecause of its inversion, it will be returned. This is because, those who think with preconceived notions, apply terms after investigation, therefore for this term of direct perception, the sign of self-nature should be definitely combined, that is, the entity that is understood by relying on the entity of direct perception itself. Therefore, for the knower, the sign should be combined. That definite combination is also a return to the sound based on the object, because the nature that pervades and acts, its knower will return. Therefore, only by relying on the senses can the term of direct perception be applied. Therefore, direct perception is free from conceptualization, which is established. If direct perception is non-conceptual, then the previous teacher's statement that the collection of five consciousnesses is focused on accumulation, and the statement "In that, many meanings arise, the nature of the general object of one's own meaning" will be contradictory. Because the consciousness focused on the past is not conceptualization, and the recognition of accumulation contradicts non-conceptualization. As it is said: \tAccumulation is a collection, \tThat generality, on that, sensory consciousness, \tGeneral consciousness undoubtedly also, \tIs connected with conceptualization. This means that the accumulation of many atoms is called a collection, and the collection is also general, that is, existing in conventional truth. For atoms that appear as different bodies that are different from each other, there is no consciousness of gathering, therefore different collections do not exist. If it is said that the collection is different from atoms, that is not correct, because the collection will not appear without atoms. If one clings to an aggregation that is different from atoms, then there will be no difference.
