No. Furthermore, if the prior and subsequent consciousnesses do not intermingle, how can oneness be established by following the experience of memory? If it is claimed that the self is what cognizes the oneness of a pot and so forth, then even if we grant that the self is one, how does it cognize oneness? It is through valid cognitions such as direct perception that things are known. If it is claimed that all cognitions involving the self are momentary, then even if we grant that the self exists, isn't any cognition whatsoever a valid cognition? If that were the case, then seeing two moons would also become existent. Therefore, even if the self exists, direct perception and inference themselves are valid cognitions. However, they do not cognize permanence, for example, the self itself, or the self of the prior and subsequent nature of another, or the cognition of another, does not cognize permanence. Therefore, neither the cognition nor the fruit of what is to be known is known. Cognition cognizes the essence and grasps it. Therefore, prior and subsequent direct perceptions do not occur simultaneously. Without that, how can the entities of cause and effect be understood? If it is claimed that inference infers the cause from the effect as prior, or that by inferring the cause, it is known that the effect arises from it, then hasn't it already been said that inference does not arise without direct perception? If the prior direct perception is not a valid cognition, how can inference be a valid cognition? If the prior cause is known through inference and then inferred again, then it would lead to infinite regress. Furthermore, because there is no external object, it cannot be said to possess the power to perform a function. How the external object does not exist should be explained. If it is claimed that even without an external object, because cognition itself has mutual cause and effect, the characteristic of power should be said to exist ultimately, that is not the case. Since direct perception is merely self-awareness, how can it understand itself as the effect? When there is the cognition of the effect, there is no cognition of the cause. How can it cognize the entities of cause and effect? If the cognition of the cause is understood through inference, then, since it does not exist, how does it infer it? If prior

If it is said that one understands through subsequent inference, and one's own nature is understood through self-awareness. That is not true. Because the prior itself is not the nature of knowing, because there is direct perception that obstructs it. Just like this, as long as one experiences knowing, then it is only what is happening in the present. Because there is no experience of the prior and the subsequent. For it, even just through recollection one can enter, but that is not a valid cognition. Recollection is actually just self-awareness itself, therefore, for self-awareness, there is only the experience of self-nature. Because how can it establish its result without knowing the other, so for knowing or the knowable, there is no function of doing something. Furthermore, for the case of having a result, the cause is not reasonable, and for the case of not having a result, it is also not reasonable. Just like this, if the result is a non-existent cause, then the horns of a rabbit would also have a cause. But, because it is completely non-existent, it has no cause, and the result is non-existent before, but not non-existent after. If it is said, how can the result be non-existent before, but exist later? Because the horns of a rabbit do not exist, so non-existence before is non-existent. But, if one knows non-existence before by seeing it later, then that is mutual dependence. As long as there is non-existence before, then it is not the later result, as long as it has not arisen, then how can it exist in non-existence before? If it is said that the emptiness of the result in the cause is non-existence before. Then, is the emptiness of the result also existent in the absence of a cause? Therefore, for it, there would also be a cause, just like this, what is related to non-existence before is the result itself, and non-existence before is another thing that is empty of the result. Empty of the result, that is, all things different from the result, will become the nature of non-existence before. With it related to it and becoming the result of a thing, it will become the result itself without remainder. If it is said that because there is no following and opposition, everything is not a cause. Then, this has already been answered. What is called non-existence before is not experienced through direct perception and so on, but it experiences the thing itself. But, the existence of the thing itself is the result itself, because for the existing result, there is the function of a cause, then how does it function for the non-existent objectless one? Then, if there is
