It is pointed out in both chapters that "it is too excessive." However, even if pervasiveness is not capable, if it is said to be non-pervasive, that is not correct. If it is not pervasive in all places, how can one know that there is permanence? If it is said that it is not understood, then the very nature of permanence will not change. Since one does not understand that things are pervasive in all places, similarly, one does not understand that it is related to all times, how can it be permanent? How can impermanent things function with just a moment? Like this, just existing for a moment, there is no act of existing. If it is said that another thing immediately after that moment is capable, then even if there is another thing after that, it will not become its result, will it? Since the moments of all things depend on all later things to become earlier, then if it is capable just because it becomes earlier, then everything will become the cause and effect of things. If it is said that if there are separately determined things, then the production of other things will not be too excessive, then how can there be doubt about the later arising if the previous momentary thing does not exist? Because it exists at that time itself, and it never exists at other times. If it is said that establishing cause and effect in continuity is not too excessive, then no, because there is no continuity except for moments. If it is said that continuity does not exist, then at that time the cause and effect of things will be the same, and the moments will become non-existent because they have no ability. If it is said that the continuity related to the moments has the cause and effect of things, so they also have continuity and results, then no, because different continuities have causes and effects, while others do not, because there is no connection. Continuity is also included in the moments, so it will become the result of everything. If continuity is also permanent, then it will not become a result, because there is no difference. If it is a moment, there is also no action, because it is not a producer, so there is the fault mentioned before. Furthermore, if continuity is established as the result itself, then the moment itself will become another continuity, which is too excessive.

It will change. Moreover, since it is not momentary, due to the existence of other causes, it will become limitless. Furthermore, if it is a result different from consciousness, so there is a cause, then at that time, the action is also due to the existence of other causes, so it will become limitless. Therefore, how does the initial cause exist? Consciousness seems to make everything exist. However, since the relationship between consciousness and the knowable cannot be understood, how can the knowable be distinguished from consciousness? Moreover, consciousness will not understand things as things of cause and effect, because it will not simultaneously hold the two things that exist in front of it. The arising of consciousness, then, does this consciousness itself know? Or does another consciousness know? Regarding this, for the time being, it is impossible for another consciousness to know that consciousness is the result itself, because consciousness is the nature of its own awareness. It is impossible for that consciousness itself to manifest and recognize as the result itself, because manifestation does not precede the result. Even if it precedes the result, it will become the result of that consciousness itself, and that is not what entered earlier. If it enters earlier again, it will become limitless, so how is it the result itself? If it is said that the cause and the result itself are simultaneous, then in that case, the pot and the woolen cloth will also become the cause and the result itself. If it is said that because the woolen cloth can be seen without the pot, so for the woolen cloth, the result itself does not exist, then, consciousness also, in dreams and so on, because it is seen separated from the knowable, so it is not the result itself of the knowable. If it is said that the mistaken consciousness is other, therefore it is not mistaken, then, in that case, the woolen cloth also, because it is observed to be separated from the pot, so it will also become other. If it is recognized that the woolen cloth is that woolen cloth, then because consciousness is also similarly recognized as this consciousness, all consciousnesses will become one. If recognition is valid cognition, then the woolen cloth will become permanent. A single consciousness will not understand things as the nature of before and after, because the previous consciousness only holds the previous, and the present consciousness only experiences the present, therefore it will not recognize as those themselves. Memory involves things before and after, but that is not valid cognition.
