That which is spoken of as the sound of a lion is attributed to it, but it is not the nature of being attributed with a meaning of non-existence, because applying non-existence to existence also occurs, for example, even though he is a son, he does not do the work of a son, so the expression "there is no son" becomes a common saying. Non-existence is also directly expressed by the sound of non-existence, if having an object of things is the cause of the name of things, then when the object of things disappears, the name of things will not be applied to non-existence. Even if there is no different cause, the sound of the meaning of the word applies to things, saying that it is a thing, that is also unreasonable, if that is the case, what is done by difference becomes not a thing, because even if there is no different cause, the sound of the meaning of the word is a thing. Even if it does not exist, it appears, that is not its reason, thus establishing a name is not established, even if the sound of the meaning of the word transcends the cause of the name, it will become a thing. Therefore, it is not something with a different cause. Then, if what is shown by fame is a thing, then how can fame itself become without lineage? Because fame must exist in the uncaused, which is unreasonable. Here it is said, fame follows the expression, it also follows the desire to speak, it is taken as the meaning of the name, like the name of the parts of the combined sound. Fame is not uncaused, nor is it the cause of lineage, etc., however, for that which has the cause of following the expression, that is this which follows the expression. Then, how does the expression arise without an external cause? That is not the case, because, the expression is also the reason for wanting to speak, it has been explained in the first chapter that it follows the intention of the word. Then, why make an expression? Even without an external reason, an expression is made for the meaning of the name, like the name of a combination and the name of a part of a sound. For example, a combination is a broken foot, the name of a single syllable and a section, etc., and the various parts of one, the name of the essence and the conditions, etc., with a slight external cause.

It is not so, because, as desired, it is attributed to the categories of self-nature and conditions. Therefore, words such as things, minerals, good, beads, etc., are also established in a place that "does not depend on others." Therefore, because similar expressions are seen, one should not infer kinds. Then, how do mind and sound appear to be in accordance with the Buddhist tenets? The accordance of mind and sound is not done by outsiders, but because of obtaining the opportunity to awaken karmic habit seeds, the excellent mind, although it is without accordance, also appears to be in accordance. How is this mind, which has a tendency to manifest and has matured karmic habits, which does not depend on external objects, have different objects? Here it is said: Although different, by the nature of things, knowing those similar meanings, whatever is the cause of knowledge, they will be understood as such. Thus, although knowledge is different, because of the non-different thought, it is not fruit-bearing, and the separation is not a single thing. The meaning is that the meaning of variegated things and so on is by the nature of things, and not by different kinds and so on. This kind of knowledge with an undifferentiated aspect, although there is difference in its own self, is the cause. The undifferentiated knowledge that arises from variegated things and so on, because it arises undifferentiated, therefore variegated things and so on will be understood as the same self-nature. The intention here is: clarity is the cause of producing such knowledge, that is, through what kind of knowledge, by the order of the complete maturation of karmic habit seeds, the knowledge that completely understands the similar aspect is produced. For example, after seeing a desired woman, because the karmic habits of happiness are completely matured and cut off, one will experience happiness, but the inner recognition of special happiness is not the cause of the clarity of external happiness itself. However, if it is thought that the aspect of happiness itself is not an understanding associated with external clarity, then, does not the kind also appear to be associated with clarity? Only the mind itself appears to have a similar aspect.
