If it is considered as an object, like this, for cotton thread, the eye consciousness arises, thinking "this is pūlu," then, that is not beautiful either. For what reason? "This cotton thread is also pūlu, etc., these names are also made by oneself." This is to say that in the world, there is no thought of considering cotton thread as pūlu, and branches as tree trunks. Therefore, because there is no such thought, how can one know what is suitable to gather? Then what is it? Rational people are only accustomed to untrue views, so they say "this is pūlu" etc. about cotton thread. Then, how is it said in the world? "The world calls a cow a horn, the horn is not the cow of the world." This is to say that worldly people say that cows have horns, and there are trees and shrubs on the ground, but worldly people do not think that horns are cows, and willows are tree trunks. Then, how can one infer the suitable gathering that is separated from cognition? However, this is the cause of recognizing "the horn of a cow," and if there is no cause, then it is obviously unreasonable to enter different objects. If it is said that the cause that can completely determine "this cow has horns" will be suitable for gathering, then, the answer is: "It is not a possessor of remaining limbs, because there is no different object." This is to say that even if there is no suitable gathering, seeing here is the object itself. For example, just as when the sun sets, one recognizes that the light illuminating the top of the mountain has disappeared. Whatever has the name "cow," because one cannot see its difference from the limbs such as horns, humps, and dewlaps, the thought "the cow has horns" will arise. But it is not that there is a cow that is different from the collection of limbs such as horns, nor is it thought that the one where the horn is located is this horn of the cow. The dependent and the depended-upon things are only established by cognition. Isn't the cognition that "this pūlu is made from those cotton threads" very famous? When seeing pūlu, it is not that there is a pūlu that is different from the collection of cotton threads, nor can it be said that this is a confused consciousness that does not point out harm, therefore, the object of this cognition is the difference between cotton threads and pūlu. Why the collection of cotton threads

If one thinks, "That is cloth," it is said: Those threads are cloth. Thus, by assembling the threads, the later result is called cloth, but they are not always simultaneous. This is because the word 'thread' refers to the state before the cloth. Later, when there is a need for wearing, etc., the word 'cloth' is used to refer to it. Therefore, it is correct to say, "Those threads are this cloth," because the later threads are assembled by weavers, etc., and the ability of the cloth arises from there, which is called the result. But cloth and other results are not always simultaneous with the threads. Therefore, threads and cloth are not the object and its basis. So, if it is not cloth when it is thread, and it is not thread when it is cloth, because the time of cause and effect is different. Thus, when it is thread, because it is separate from cloth, how can one understand, "These are threads, this is cloth"? That is not true, because: When someone indicates the basis of sound, or approaches as a cause, or separates a single thread, the result will also be called thread. The fruit of the thread is the cloth itself, and at that time there is no thread. Previously, the thread was the cause, so by borrowing the knowledge of the thread and the word of the thread, it is applied to the fruit, the cloth. It will be applied, just like this, remembering the previous thread, one will understand, "These are threads," otherwise it is not. Separating from each thread, it will also be called thread. What should be done? In order to indicate the basis of the word 'thread' on the cloth, just like this, those threads are gathered together and reach a special time, and are called cloth. Therefore, like an army and a forest, cloth is only a conventional existence. But from the ultimate truth, there is no cloth that is different from the thread. So, if there is no cloth that is different from the thread, how can the word 'cloth' be applied? Because there is no external reason, it is not reasonable to be able to apply it through speech. That is not reasonable, because: Is it the act of benefiting and bestowing benefits itself?
