For those beings who are completely attached to certain objects of desire and whose minds are filled with craving, there is no grasping once the object related to the eye sense comes near. Because the consciousness that is destroyed by attachment to other objects and has the ability to generate consciousness does not have the ability to generate other consciousnesses. If the mind cannot focus on other objects, how can it generate other consciousnesses? Furthermore, our dispute will become the same for both of us. If you say that because the mind is one, attachment to one sense is not attachment to others because the ability to generate consciousness is different, then even so, because of the rapid operation, the mind's cognition will also become without order. If you say that because there is great attachment to that object, it is not a consciousness that grasps simultaneously, then if that is the case, why not admit that because the attachment to that object is different, the mind whose ability is destroyed is not the cause of generating consciousness? If you say that even if you see a rotating torch in sequence, a simultaneous appearance will occur, because the cognitions with sequential appearances are connected and the phenomenon of seeing a wheel arises. Answer: Because torches and the like quickly disappear, they are destroyed by the following motion, and the eye sense is mistaken for the appearance of a wheel, but this illusion of a wheel is not caused by connecting the seeing of torches. Therefore, the five consciousnesses arise simultaneously. If you admit that the simultaneous appearance of just five objects is an illusion, then if that is the case, it will become an illusion of the simultaneous appearance of all object realms. If you say that you also admit that the consciousness of all objects is also an illusion like simultaneous appearance, that is not correct, because without sequence there is no valid cognition. Simultaneous appearance is known from clear direct perception, but the mind consciousness that is the opposite of that does not have it. If you think that you recognize it as an illusion without seeing the opposite, then this inference is the same for all cognitions.

Because there is no reason to refute the collection of knowledge experienced in an instant, the assertion of an instant can be established. Therefore, non-conceptualization itself is direct perception. Having thus explained that direct perception is non-conceptual in one's own doctrine, now, in order to refute, we will cite the doctrines of others. Some say: Because it arises from the senses, etc., it is non-conceptual like the mind of a blind person, and the cause of the blind person's non-conceptualization is said to be the very lack of skill in expression. Regarding this, some, such as Hari Swami, argue that because it arises from the senses, and because it enters through the mode of experience included by the word "etc.," the sense consciousness does not have conceptualization. It is like the sense consciousness of a blind person. The reason why the sense consciousness of a blind person does not have conceptualization is that they cannot grasp symbols. They argue that because of non-conceptualization, the cognition of a blind person becomes direct perception. Because it is separated from the cause of symbols, it will not change even later. Therefore, these opponents, through reasoning, assert that the knowledge of blind people is direct perception. If they think that all the knowledge of blind people is non-conceptual, that is not correct. Because a young woman, when doing her own work, will think before and after, and this is conceptualization. If it is said that they did not have conceptualization before, then they will not generate conceptualization later, because there is no way to fully understand symbols. Because fully understanding is conceptualization. If a blind person does not have conceptualization, then how will conceptualization arise without reason? If it is said that a blind person also has a mind that is not proficient in symbols, and therefore thinks that conceptualization will arise later, then the same will happen to the consciousness arising from the senses. This statement is superfluous. If a blind person also has a mind that is proficient in symbols and participates in language communication, because there is a mind that is not proficient in symbols, they will use symbols, and therefore think that conceptualization will arise from the mind later, then the same will happen to the consciousness arising from the senses, because blind people will also distinguish the consciousness arising from the senses. If it is said that because it arises from the senses, the sense consciousness of a blind person does not have conceptualization, then this is like
