Here, the answer is given: What is seen in one characteristic, Will not be seen in some others. From that, the general other is different, Is it existent? It is not, because there is no different mind. Therefore, the characteristic itself has an object, All are mind born from the senses. As such, the characteristic possessing an object and other times, for what reason is it that the characteristic seen at one time, or seen at another time, is not seen again in another object? Because the present, which dwells before, and the future, which will arise, do not recognize the characteristic related to other times, it appears clearly in the characteristic of being assembled in my time. Therefore, the first seer does not experience the nature of the time that will arise, and the present arising of the present does not experience the nature of the past. Is it not that the consciousness of memory determines that the former and the latter are the same as this? It is not, because the reasoning of the consciousness of memory is not present, because there is no function of the senses in it. Thus, what is related to the determination of the object enters into the blue and so on that are presently arising, not the past time and the future sight. The eye consciousness also does not enter into things that have become other times. If it were not so, then all objects and times would be known by the present, and the first seer would also know all aspects. If the senses do not enter into the past and the future, even so, does not the consciousness that relies on them grasp the before and after? If so, if the eye consciousness takes the before and after things as objects, then the eye itself has no function in the future. Causing the appearance of a nature that is not near is not the function of the eye, because there is no such appearance. The future is not remembered, but should be said to be inferred from what will arise. Therefore, because there is no appearance produced by the eye, there is no extreme following. However, is the genus the knowledge of the consciousness that is aided by the senses, and if it exists relying on clarity, is it a follower? This is not true, for what reason? How can one speak of the difference from that otherness?

In general, there is no difference. Other practitioners have not admitted it either, because there is no different appearance in the wisdom of the senses. When seeing clearly, there is no appearance of a different or other generality, how can it become an object of manifestation if it cannot be understood? Therefore, all wisdom arising from the senses should be characterized by special objects, because uncommon measures can be seen. Because one cannot distinguish a different generality from clarity, it is reasonable to say, "No sound is attached to it." But how is it that the particularity of a degraded body is not also the object of sound? Therefore, because it is aimed at its own characteristics delimited by sound. If it is said that the wisdom arising from the senses is accompanied by understanding, then it is said here: Sounds do not enter into particularities, because particularities do not follow, so symbols cannot be used. That is to say, for the nature of appearance that changes from one to another, there is no generality. Sounds also do not enter into particularities, because particularities do not follow, so symbols cannot be used. Symbols are set up by people for the purpose of attaching names to other places and times, and using symbols meaninglessly becomes a futile joke. Because one's own characteristics are not the object of sound, one's own characteristics, which are fixed in place and time, are not produced by symbols. Therefore, because symbols cannot be used, particularity is not the object of sound. If the object of sound is generality, not one's own characteristics, then the mind will combine sounds from one's own characteristics, doesn't the discriminating consciousness of the mind grasp the distinguished characteristics by means of the combined sound? No, because: The sounds are combined in whatever object, they are there. That is to say, whatever is the object of the sounds, the sounds are combined with it. Because one's own characteristics do not pervade other places and times, the combination of expression is not in particularity, so that manifest knowledge is not accompanied by understanding. Whoever holds the lineage is accompanied by understanding.
