Because the knowledge that arises now only clings to what arises now. The realization that they are the same is mistaken, so there is no valid cognition at all. If it is said that because the previous and subsequent things are the same, it is not inverted, then it is said: Because the manifest and the other are the same, both will be established by one. If the nature of the manifest and the other is the same, then the manifest or the hidden, because they are established by one valid cognition, either manifest or inferential, the two, manifest and hidden, will make valid cognition unnecessary. If it is said that in the realization of recognition, even if only what was previously grasped is clung to, it is true, therefore it is valid cognition, then it is said: The boundary with others is the connection, and attachment is also remembered by the wise. If it is said that it is not remembrance because it depends on the sign, then it is not, because it is mistaken. It means that whatever is connected with what was previously seen is recognition, not clinging to the nature of clarity. At that time, the attachment of the experienced knowledge, which has become connected with the boundary of others, is remembered by the wise. The nature of the manifest and the hidden is the same, and since there is nothing more to infer, it is only remembrance. If it is said that it is not remembrance because it depends on the sign of fire, such as smoke, then that is not the case. In your system, there is no such thing as a sign, because there are no three modes, because the example and the meaning are the same. In the Buddhist aspect, only inference is recognition, which is shown to have a common object. The remembrance that arises from the sign does not become mistaken, therefore, all knowledge that does not have direct realization is called remembrance. So, if inference is remembrance, how does one realize what exists now? From the power of the dharma of the direction, because the fire that exists in the direction where there is smoke is the producer. Through power, the previously non-existent object and time will be included. If that is the case, all inferences are only remembrance. Those, because they are two objects, are two valid cognitions, the meaning of the nature of manifest and inferential appears.

It is the agent, because there is no other conceptualization except grasping this and that. It abides in this. Among them, direct perception is free from conceptualization and is not mistaken. Adding categories etc. is conceptualization, and grasping in a reversed manner is mistaken, therefore, is it not the case that liberation from both is direct perception? Among them, not being mistaken is seeing and understanding as it is, how can one know that it is free from conceptualization? Because subsequent recollection, which has direct perception as its cause, does not arise without direct perception. However, it is not the case that direct perception itself is established as being free from conceptualization, because all appearing awarenesses are speech and contradictory, therefore, how can direct perception with conceptualization show itself to be free from conceptualization? Here it is said: Direct perception is free from conceptualization, direct perception itself establishes it, all conceptualizations, names are the basis, each individually knows it. The meaning is that direct perception is known as being free from conceptualization through self-awareness, what can generate conceptualization is names, and names can also generate conceptualization, therefore, conceptualizations that rely on names, are knowable by each individual's self-awareness, because self-awareness can know conceptualization, and eyes etc. can manifest external objects. Therefore, by relying on contradictory dharmas, the wise ones can know that conceptualization and other awarenesses are separate. However, because there is always conceptualization, so this designation of saying "it is blue" is the only one, then, how are direct perception and conceptualization distinguished? Here it is said: From all, the mind is gathered, the inner nature is unwavering, even if abiding, the eye sees all forms, the mind that sees is born from the senses. The meaning is that, if direct perception is with conceptualization, and constantly focuses on blue etc., then, how can the eye of Devadatta, who has gathered the continuum of mind from all objects and has an unwavering mind, manifest form? Because after gathering, it can also appear when there is no conceptualization, therefore, the nature of awareness that has the appearance of being free from conceptualization, can be comprehended by direct perception. Even if that is the case, the designation of having freedom from conceptualization
