If it deceives, even if it is an illusion, it arises from related objects, so it will not deceive. Because illusion also arises indirectly from things, like recognizing a jewel from the light of a jewel. Furthermore, if inference is not a valid cognition because it is an illusion, then direct perception will not be a valid cognition either. Because if inference does not give rise to direct perception, it will not be a valid cognition; and direct perception will not be a valid cognition without giving rise to inference. Because direct perception does not initially enter without relying on inference, and without a means of entering, it will not be a valid cognition, this is what is to be explained. However, the teacher said that inference does not proceed without direct perception; even without inference, there is direct perception, therefore they are different. This refers to the fact that direct perception without inference is only self-awareness. Self-awareness does not apply to any expression. Therefore, it is inference itself that is primarily capable of applying expressions. However, direct perception initially enters without relying on inference, and inference can enter even without direct perception. For example, inferring fire from smoke can proceed even without direct perception, because that thing is obtained from inference itself. If you say so, that is not true. How can inference know fire and other things without direct perception to understand the particular characteristics of its properties? Inference is the knowledge of fire without knowing the specific location. For example, inference cannot determine the location of a fire blocked by a wall or the like. If you say so, the other side of the wall does not generally infer any direction, and direct perception determines the location. Because something uncertain cannot perform a function, inference is an assistant to direct perception. Knowing a jewel from the light of a jewel is also not a valid cognition due to the same fault, because it does not grasp a definite location. Doubt and reversal are also similar in that they cannot definitely obtain the object. However, the knowledge of illusion leads to other actions, therefore it is not a valid cognition.

If it is said that hesitation sometimes leads to falling into it, therefore it becomes a valid cognition, then, isn't hesitation that aims at both aspects even deeper? How does it lead to falling into it? Erroneous cognition is likely to lead to inversion. Cognition from the light of a jewel, even if it is erroneous, is known through subsequent inference, not through other valid cognitions. Because for the cognition of a jewel in the light of a jewel, there is no difference from the valid cognition itself. However, for the light of a jewel, what kind of valid cognition is the cognition as a jewel? That is direct perception itself. Then, how can direct perception become erroneous? That is not true, whether it is erroneous or not erroneous, non-deception itself is a valid cognition. As it is said: A valid cognition is knowledge that does not deceive. Thus it is taught. However, how can error not deceive? Unless it is said that this is error and non-error itself, how can non-deception be established? However, is the absence of harm non-error? If the absence of harm is not also non-deceptive knowledge, then, because of deception, everything will become erroneous. Even if it is non-deceptive, inference is only error, because direct perception sees something else, so the critical view is unreasonable, and the worldly broad view is also unreasonable, because they admit that all errors are not valid cognitions. Then, if error is a valid cognition, then what is the difference between direct perception and inference? Because the states of clarity and non-clarity are different. Therefore, the nature of direct perception itself is without error, and inference is also, in terms of its own nature, without error, and in terms of relying on non-deception, it is also not the same as being without error. Therefore, pointing out error and non-error is unreasonable. If that is the case, then how are the definitions of direct perception and inference different? If it is said to be through clarity and non-clarity, then, where does the different appearance itself come from? However, if it is said that what grasps the independent is clear, and what grasps the nature of others is hidden, then, what is it that grasps the independent and grasps the nature of others?
