If it is said that it is because perception directly grasps objects, isn't it the case that perception does not engage with what is to be obtained by conceptual thought? Therefore, how can it grasp it? Or, if it is said that because perception engages with the continuum of what is to be obtained, it also engages with what is to be obtained, then doesn't perception engage with the first moment? That which has engaged with something else is not able to engage with what is to be obtained. If that is the case, then inference, too, because it engages with its own essence, will also engage with the object. Well then, if it is said that the inference that engages with its own essence engages with the object is merely an imputation, then if that is the case, then perception, too, because it engages with the first moment, if it is said that it engages with what is to be obtained, it would be an investigation. Therefore, inference is also a valid cognition because it engages with external objects. Whatever is cognized, that and that is its own essence, just like perception. Inference is also cognition. Therefore, to that which says that it is its own essence, it is said: even though it is cognition, it is seen as different by the essence of another, just like knowing a jewel by the light of a jewel. To this side that says inference is an object of things, it is answered by "because it is not a collection of powers and is not a result." Therefore, the consciousness with the aspect of generality is an object without things. That which arises from the initial perception of what was previously seen and the similarity of qualities, the consciousness with the object of function, is inference, because perception is merely the appearance of proximity. It is not that which holds what was previously seen. As long as it is not known as function, how can it engage? Therefore, the reason it is a function is that it acts by holding the previous similarity of qualities indistinctly. Perception is that which holds things and clarity by proximity. Therefore, the engagement of perception with the object is also only from inference, therefore there are two valid cognitions. Cognition by the essence of another is also a valid cognition, because it is not deceptive, thus it is shown. Although it is a valid cognition because it is not deceptive, but

For the sake of showing it is an illusion. From the light of the jewel lamp, Appearing to chase with a jewel mind, Although there is no difference in illusion, There is a difference in accomplishing meaning. Thus, although not a real meaning, But inference and its appearance, By accomplishing meaning and later association, Establish as valid cognition. It is said that the light of the jewel appears from the crack of the door, and the mind that mistakes the light of the lamp for a jewel appears without any difference. Thus, the mind that arises from the light of the lamp as a jewel is not grasping the real jewel. Likewise, the mind that grasps the light of the jewel as a jewel is also not grasping the jewel. Therefore, although the two people who appear to chase with the jewel mind have no difference in the consciousness of illusion, there is a difference in accomplishing the encounter with the jewel. Just as some jewel minds can cause an encounter. Similarly, in the illusion of not being a real meaning, inference and its appearance have a difference in accomplishing meaning. Although it is an illusion, inference is born from the power of the three-characteristic reason, and because of the indirect association, it can cause an encounter. Its appearance is because it is far from association, it cannot cause an encounter. Inference is the excellence of accomplishing meaning, but its appearance is not. Or, the word its appearance refers to direct perception. Therefore, just like direct perception, inference is also considered to be established as valid cognition by accomplishing meaning and later association. Then, if inference is not the appearance of things, how can it enter the unseen realm? Even if the jewel is not seen, if one appears to grasp the light of the jewel as a jewel and enters, will it not be encountered? Although it becomes an illusion, not everything is the same, and it is possible to become a difference of the difference of cause at all times. Just because it is consciousness, not everything is illusion or non-illusion. For example, just as some consciousness is illusion and some is not, illusion is also a non-deceptive true consciousness and valid cognition. Because there is no association, whatever deceptive consciousness is, it is not valid cognition. Then, if it is said to be an illusion, how not
