If it is said that a valid cognition establishes the existence of things, then is inference not also following the nature of what is seen? Therefore, it is reasonable for inference to have a clear appearance. But if later knowledge recognizes what existed before, how can it exist if there is nothing to be observed? Is it not reasonable that what is seen later exists at that time? But if it did not exist before, how can it be seen? Having been seen before, is there no attachment to that thing? Inference is not to establish that thing, but to say that its existence can be known from that valid cognition. Then, if the thing itself is direct perception, how can there be other objects of measurement? This is because it is understood through the nature of other things, and understanding the observable nature in a common way is called another object of measurement. If that is the case, since it is done in dependence, the general will not truly exist, is that so? That is indeed the case, it has been shown that the general does not exist. By means of encountering things, names are assigned, and because many things are not understood, names are assigned saying that this is a thing. Therefore, relative to the person who assigns names, there are two objects. If someone says that there is another valid cognition that grasps the object of measurement with two natures, then it is said that one valid cognition cannot operate with two natures, and if it does, then there are two valid cognitions. Because grasping the object of measurement with two natures is different, the valid cognitions are also different. Or, because the understandings are different, the non-real object of measurement is a different characteristic. There is no fault of having an object of measurement with two natures, because blue and so on are only the nature of things. The establishing understanding is different, so it has valid cognition. If that is the case, since there is no real object of measurement, will it not become a valid cognition? It is not that there is no real object of measurement. However, the different object of measurement is the nature of investigation, and what obtains it is that whatever becomes direct perception is what should be inferred. Therefore, by following the example of one's own nature and the nature of others, the meaning
