This is because there is no valid cognition other than the consciousness that focuses on names and reasons, since valid cognition does not apprehend, there is no valid cognition, that is, its very nature is without valid cognition. Here, the consciousness arising from sound only appears as the aspect of the object, but does not apprehend names and so on other than that. Therefore, it is not good to understand names and so on that are not understood. If, like eye consciousness, only the blue that is its nature appears, but the meaning of the external object does not appear, but the meaning of the external object exists. Similarly, in the consciousness arising from sound, names and so on appear as its nature, are there other names and so on that benefit the consciousness of the aspect of names? This is not reasonable, because the negation of eye consciousness and so on is established. Although there are eye consciousness and so on, they arise in separately determined objects and times. Sometimes consciousness benefits the consciousness of its aspect, and the external object is established, because the consciousness arising from sound arises only through the function of expression. Therefore, it is non-existent to observe names and so on that are different from consciousness. If it is said that all consciousnesses have meaning, because others are seen in dreams and so on. Is it not that all consciousnesses are without appearance? Appearance means appearing as blue and so on. Therefore, all aspects of knowable blue and so on are of meaning, not of consciousness. Therefore, all consciousnesses have meaning, because even a small part has no self-appearance, how can there be confusion? It is impossible for the appearance of consciousness to appear as the nature of the external object, therefore, the consciousness arising from sound is also only with an object. How are names and so on without valid cognition? Here, the answer is: How is it known that all consciousnesses have an object? The experience of the appearance of being present is not the existence of meaning itself. If so, there will be no distinction between confusion and non-confusion, because everything has meaning. However, if consciousness has meaning, it is wrong because it does not encounter what is to be done.

If one abides in error, how can it not become objectless since it is devoid of function? If it is not meaningless, furthermore, since one sees objectless things in dreams and so on, it is reasonable that it is without an object. If one thinks that dream consciousness has an object, that is not right, because it is not established on that, because it is not established on some objects either. If you ask, isn't it present in waking consciousness? Even so, since the state of waking is not present in dreams, dream consciousness is objectless. Therefore, in dreams and in consciousness that appears as two moons, and so on. Furthermore, if you say that even without an object, all consciousnesses are meaningful because they are seen in front, that is not reasonable. Isn't dream consciousness also the object of the eye and so on? Therefore, it is not reasonable that dream consciousness is meaningless, if you say so. Here it is said: It is the path of action. Because blue and so on appear. Thus, the appearance of blue and so on in dream consciousness is because it is separated from the appearance of names and so on. Therefore, from the appearance of blue and so on, dream consciousness is not born from conditioned phenomena that do not possess birth. However, the object of dream consciousness is not blue and so on themselves, but rather external objects, which are different in place and time, are the object of dream consciousness, for example, in dream consciousness, things from other births also appear. Or, it causes the place or time of this very thing to appear as things that exist in other places, and as things that are different in place and time. Therefore, even in dreams and so on, things appear perverted. If you say that it is not consciousness that is entirely without an object by itself. To this it is answered: Because there is no obstruction, it is not blue, etc. Thus, blue and so on should not be the object of dream consciousness, because the blue and so on that appear in dreams are inconsistent. For example, external objects are obstructive, while the blue and so on in dreams do not have obstruction and so on. Thus, if there are external objects in dreams, then just as one sees a herd of elephants in a similar place,
