It is not that there are differences such as time. To sum up, therefore, it appears at the time of perception, and things are different in nature from perception, and it is extremely difficult to overturn this. Because at the time of perception, the things that appear are proved to be non-different and one with happiness. Since the difference between things and perception cannot be overturned, perception is proved to have aspects. If perception has aspects, then perception itself will appear as blue and other aspects, not things. Even if you see it, it will become something else. If things appear at the time of perception, then it is no different from perception. If you rely on other aspects, it will also become dependent on other things, so that there is no end and it cannot be understood. In response, here it is said that the difference in cause can be inferred. Because seeing the perception with blue and other aspects, the difference in cause can be inferred, but it is not directly seeing things, because there are faults as mentioned above. So, like this, inferring extremely inconspicuous things, he said, even if there are other causes, because the wisdom of the senses does not exist. Even if there are other causes different from things, such as eyes and attention and manifestation, sometimes even if you want to manifest a pillar in an empty place, because there is no sensory wisdom with aspects such as pillars, but it exists in other places, so you should infer the difference in cause different from eyes and so on. Therefore, only things that are far away from the difference of what is seen can be measured. So, how is it directly perceived? Because the perception that dwells in its aspect is direct, it is said that things are the object of direct perception. If so, is it not true that only external things can be measured, and the statement that it is only perception is not valid? The answer is, if they are the same, they will not be immediately determined from the cause. That is to say, if the wisdom of the senses does not determine the place, time, and aspect from the same direct cause, then the person who only says perception will not say that, at that time, the difference in cause can be inferred.

How will it change then? When it arises from the power of the habitual imprints left by previous seeing and hearing, it is not an understanding of an extremely unseen external object. Since it is an understanding that follows seeing and hearing, how can it act on unseen things? If external objects do not exist, then how can cause and effect, and objects of knowledge and subjects of knowledge, exist? If external objects do not exist, then consciousness should be regarded as cause and effect. Sometimes, after the consciousness that appears as a seed, there is a consciousness that appears as a sprout; but sometimes, even without the consciousness that appears as a seed, there is a consciousness that appears as a sprout, isn't it? Therefore, seeds and sprouts, etc., although difficult to understand when speaking of the causal relationship of external objects, they have their own cause, which is the cause of the sprout. If the seed consciousness is not understood, then it does not exist. Therefore, after the seed consciousness, the sprout consciousness arises, and after the sprout consciousness, the seed consciousness arises. In this way, they will not become mutually causal relationships. Therefore, objects of knowledge and subjects of knowledge are also abandoned far away. The means of proof that infers the existence of fire from smoke is hidden, but there is no hidden external object. Because appearing as fire is also the nature of consciousness, it is only non-hidden, and there is no hidden thing in the external object. Therefore, in order to be able to infer it by inference, it is reasonable to say that there is an external object. If someone thinks like this, then (the answer is): Verse: The seed produces a sprout, Smoke proves the existence of fire, Like this, the meaning of external objects, Is the basis of the agent's wisdom. That also appears as its own nature, Like this, those who are definitely born, If relying on consciousness, What contradictions are there? As said in the verse, the seed produces a sprout, like this, establishing the agent of the external object, and proving the existence of fire from smoke, like this, establishing the knower of the external object, they all exist.

Both of these do not depend on external entities, but appear as their own essence, that is, they appear as seeds and sprouts, etc. Similarly, those that can appear as seeds, etc., and that can give rise to certainty afterward, are the minds of sprouts, etc. If one relies on or contemplates such a mind, what contradiction is there? There is no contradiction. Its intention is: cause and effect are only knowledge, not entities, because even if there is an unseen entity, there is no difference from non-existence. As it is said: existence refers to the object of perception, and the non-existence of non-existence is the non-object of perception. But how can appearance exist without an external entity? It is not so, it has already been shown that even without an entity, it will appear. Therefore, from seeing the seed to seeing the sprout, cause and effect are not of the same kind. Although this is so, it is not enough to see only the seed, if there is no appearance as a seed, even if the sprout is seen, then if there is no seed, the sprout will become without a cause. If it is said that because the seed exists in other appearing things, the sprout is not without a cause, this is not correct, because it is uncertain. There is no doubt that there is no other seed to be seen, and the seeing of the sprout does not arise from seeing other things. For those who assert external things, the sprout is not without a cause, because the unseen seed is the cause, this is not true. For example, if it is thought that there is any seed that has not been seen by anyone, then what evidence is there to prove its existence? By what can it be proven that the sprout is produced by the seed? If a nature that is completely without ability, if there is no thing, it will be said to exist. If it is said that one can determine its existence from seeing the fruit, if the fruit itself has not been proven to exist, how can it be known as a fruit? If the seed is proven to exist, then the sprout will be proven to be its fruit, and if the sprout is proven to be a fruit, then the seed will be proven to exist, therefore it will fall into the fault of mutual dependence. If it is said that the seed that was seen before
