Therefore, if it is thought that saying "the thing itself is a generality" is contradictory, then it is said here: It is able to function manifestly with its own characteristics, and it functions indirectly, therefore it itself is a generality, how can it be contradictory? If the thing itself is a generality, then the non-existent is also the thing itself, therefore, the self-nature of the generality will also exist. Therefore, the non-manifest will not become an object of inference, because it is an external object, isn't it? It is said here: Because it is held as a knowable thing. Non-existence, that is, when it is destroyed, for the self-nature of non-existence and so on, there is no fault of falling into the non-existence of generality, because non-existence is the self-nature of other things through the way of preventing non-existence, therefore it is only a thing. Other things can also function. Or, even if it is completely non-existent, if it is determined by measurement, it also has necessity, therefore this is a thing, because for non-existent things, there is also the necessity of walking, without doubt. Therefore, by definitely knowing non-existence, then for it, it is reasonable to become the thing itself. If it is thought that hair and so on are also non-existent, or that it is known as if it were real hair, isn't it? For it, from understanding non-existent things, there arises existence such as walking, therefore, if it is thought that for hair and so on, there also exists the object of measurement, then, those will also become like that. Because there is no prevention, it is a clear appearance. Because it is the self-nature of knowledge, it is a thing. The wisdom of knowable things such as hair is also the object of having generality, and it appears as hair but has no thing. It is said like this. If it is completely determined that hair and so on are non-existent, then, at that time, how is it that the generality called non-existence is not? Through the knowledge that functions, or others do not manifest, therefore, because time and place and others have not seen it, therefore, for the generality of non-existence, there is no prevention. Those, that is, hair and so on. Whenever, if it is thought that it is understood as if it were real hair, then, at that time, for the self-nature of the knowledge of hair, a similar term will be established.

If I were to judge, hairs and the like would not become clear, so isn't the awareness of hairs extremely clear? To this, I say again: The clarity of hairs and the like is because it is the meaning of the very nature of awareness. Hairs and the like are their own characteristics. If clarity itself is the meaning and manifests its own characteristics, then how can hairs and the like be meaningless? Then, won't hairs and the like become the nature of universals? To this, I say here: Hairs and the like, the thought of hairs and the like experienced through self-awareness, the wisdom that arises is that which has a universal object, because it takes similar nature as its object. Like this, are hairs and the like false? Or, knowing that hairs are similar to reality, this is the nature of investigation, which is contrary to truth. Being similar to this is also understood by following the previous nature, because the previous and subsequent natures do not manifestly enter, therefore, definite awareness has a universal object. If that is the case, self-awareness has an object of its own characteristics, and awareness with conceptual thought has a universal object, then what is confusion? To this, I say: Appearing as hairs, that is, sense consciousness is meaningless. Self-awareness is direct perception, conceptual thought is inference, and sense consciousness is meaningless, this should be distinguished. If sense consciousness itself is self-awareness, and there is no awareness arising from the senses other than self-awareness, because self-awareness arises through the function of the eye and so on. Then, doesn't sense consciousness arise from things that function? Experiencing one's own nature completely clearly is not entering from the senses. However, if clearly experiencing does not enter without the senses, then all experiences are clear, aren't things slightly clear and slightly unclear? However, how can it be clear without eyes? Isn't the awareness of dreams clear in nature even without the senses? Therefore, sense consciousness enters into things, and if there are no things, then it is meaningless, because there is no attainment of things there. The universal is also of awareness
