If it is said to be transformed, it is not so. Because the generality and consciousness are not seen to follow and contradict external objects. For example, the mind of the eye and so on depends on the existence or non-existence of form and so on. Does the consciousness of the eye and so on itself appear as blue and so on? In reality, it is not. If you ask how it holds to follow external objects, here is the answer: If you do not think that external objects exist before consciousness, even so, because you see that there is no eye consciousness, you know that external objects exist. If consciousness arises without external objects, then at that time, wherever you open your eyes, consciousness that only appears blue will arise, just as when the eyes are damaged by cataracts, you see tangled hair. Eye consciousness does not arise in all places like that, therefore it is reasonable to know that external objects exist. Therefore, observing following and contradicting, the mind of the eye and so on will see the function of form and so on. Generality and consciousness do not depend on following and contradicting external objects, because they arise only from internal causes. However, if the mind of the cow itself does not come from the horse, how is it not contradictory? That is not possible, it cannot be said that without the cow itself, there is no cow's mind in the horse. However, because there is no cause for the cow's awakening, the function of awakening habit, there is no cow's mind in the horse. Furthermore, it is impossible for generality to appear apart from consciousness. Because what measures the existence or non-existence of generality is the consciousness of similarity itself, which is the only generality, not external objects. If that is the case, then without generality, would the horse and the cow themselves become mutually other? No. Because they can be distinguished merely by observation, and the things that appear are different, so there the inconsistent characteristics of generality are not observed. If, again, one strives only in name, and there is no consciousness of a pot even in a place devoid of pots, then it will become the function of generality. However, if generality is pervasive, then should the mind of a cow arise even in a place devoid of appearances? Why is it not pervasive for hair and so on seen by eyes damaged by cataracts? However
