Because it is not seen by others. If those are non-existent, then in general, without the effort of expression, isn't it incomprehensible? Therefore, that is also non-existent. If it is said that the general is understood from the effort of expression, then, aren't the shadows of hair, etc., also seen because there is haze on the surface of the sky? Therefore, how can it be non-existent? Or, because of the damage caused by the haze, even without the shadow of hair, the eyes can see, if it is said like that, then, the shadows of hair, etc., isn't this understood? Why is it non-existent? If it is said that it is the object of damaged eyes, then, how is this damaged? If it is said that it is because there is no target, then, in that case, isn't it one relying on the other? If it is said that the eyes transformed by the haze are to capture false hair shadows, etc., then, in general, it will also become non-existent because it appears when awakened in inverted actions. Therefore, the effort of expression, etc., in order to enter the inner limbs, the pot and lifting and the general, numbers, etc., the mind is also explained. That which is called this, the pot, the basis of qualities such as form, is a substance with limbs. Action is lifting. Number is quality. The sound of etc. is aggregation, this is the object of the mind. What is the mind of those, is the mind, in order to show that those do not follow and contradict the external, the explanation is the explanation. Those are also not dependent on external substances, this is the concluding remark. How is it known from that? The effort of expression itself is the internal cause, because it enters from it. The sound of etc. is to grasp memory. Like this, the mind of the pot is not related to the pot, because forms, etc. are mutually different, observed by the minds of the eyes, etc. Even if form and touch are observed, because of the power of beginningless habits, later it becomes more attached to the same, and the thought "it is a pot" arises. If it is said that what is the substance with limbs understood by the eyes, that is also understood by touch, through the gateway of seeing and touching, there are two substances, then, that is not so, if forms, etc. are not understood, there are no colors, etc., because the substance with limbs does not appear. If that is experienced, it will also become grasping what is not the appearance of form, then,

It is not possible to distinguish between the two with eye consciousness. However, we recognize "this is a vase," not "this is a shape." So, how are the vase and the shape experienced as different? For example, a red vase, and the intellectual recognition of the vase as unerring, is that so? It is not so. Because the red essence of the vase and the cloth are recognized, and the recognition that red and non-red things are vases, therefore, from the perspective of concomitance and difference, the recognition of the vase and red are different, but in reality, it is not so. So, if the form, etc., without limbs, are different in themselves, then how is it understood that where there is form, there is touch? This is not impossible, because they are recognized collectively by relying on a collection. For example, in the collection of an army, where the king is, there are also soldiers, etc., which is nominally recognized. If there are no soldiers, etc., the army itself does not exist. Therefore, form and touch rely on a collection, so there is no confusion, but they do not have limbs. Similarly, for the designation of "lifting," etc., which arises in different objects of consciousness, the momentary "lifting" of the hand, etc., is focused on the collection, not from the power of things. Similarly, the consciousness of numbers, etc., should also be viewed in this way. If universals have no function, then, for the blurred images of hairs, etc., seen by those with eye diseases, because they cannot function, will they also become universals? If you think so, hairs, etc., are not universals, because they do not cling to things. In order to recognize the knowable, there is no fault for non-existent things. It is said that for hairs and two moons, etc., seen by those with eye diseases, they are not universals, because they do not cling to the essence of things. The thing itself recognizes its own characteristics through the nature of the universal, and that is the universal. If it is its own characteristic, then how can it be a universal, since it will function at that time? Because is the universal not functioning? Or, if it is a universal because it is unrelated to functioning, then how can it be a thing at that time? A thing is functioning.
