Because it is seen as its own nature. How can the unseen? Become the seer of meaning. Thus it is said. External objects, with the nature of desire and non-desire, etc., have many natures, and because they see the single nature of desire or non-desire. How can the unseen become the manifester of external meaning? It cannot become. For example, a person with blurred vision sees one moon with many natures, but it is not a seer of meaning. If in desire and non-desire, what appears is discrimination, not sense consciousness. Signs of death, etc., are also seen in that, because there is no connection of mind. Thus it is said. Whatever appears as desire and non-desire, that is discrimination, not sense consciousness. Sense consciousness is the state of establishing meaning as it is, but not discrimination. If it is said that what is born from the senses also has signs of death and eye diseases, etc., that are not connected with meaning by mind and karma, because it is not followed, there is also the word of the meaningless. Also, signs of death, etc., are not connected with the happiness of that sentient being, and are seen in sense consciousness. The differences of sentient beings, in one, also have the appearance of happiness and suffering, and what is born from the senses arises. For the sake of summarizing. Therefore, in external measurable objects, one's own experience is the result, one should know. Why is this thing how it is, thus the meaning is determined. Thus it is said. Why, because meaning is not as it is, in external measurable objects also one's own experience, that is, self-awareness, is the result, one should know. Why, how does this experience appear as the nature of desire and non-desire, thus in the nature of desire and non-desire, meaning is not determined. Therefore, self-awareness is the result. If so, if in external objects, self-awareness is the result, then it becomes a measure with the aspect of grasping, but in external objects, the aspect of meaning itself is considered a measure. When the teacher says that the external object is measurable, at that time

If someone asks, what does it mean when you say, "The very appearance of awareness in the object is a valid cognition"? Here is the answer: That means, the appearance of awareness in the object, even if there is a subject as the grasper, does not depend on the external object, because it is not for the benefit of others. That is to say, the awareness with the aspect of the object is a valid cognition for the external object. Even if there is a grasping subject, it will not become a valid cognition for the external object, because it is not for the benefit of others, but for the benefit of oneself. The nature of awareness is not seeing for the benefit of others, because the nature of realization is not common to all knowable objects. Then, how is the object understood to be similar and changing? Because, how the essence of the object exists in awareness, similarly, this existence is determined, also because of self-awareness. Because the essence of the object is not seen, it is considered that itself is the awareness of the object. Here it is said: Because, in awareness, just as in the awareness of blue and yellow, etc., the essence of blue, etc., is transferred and appears, similarly, the essence of the external object is determined by the aspects of blue and yellow, etc., therefore, the aspect itself is the reason for understanding the object, and that itself is a valid cognition for the external object. If that is the case, then the awareness of the external object itself is the result, what is the use of self-awareness? It is not like that, because, the aspect of the object existing in the measurable, whether it is the nature of blue and yellow, etc., or the nature of desire, etc., must be determined from self-awareness, therefore, the awareness of the external object of the object itself is considered to be self-awareness. Those indicate that the thinking of the object is produced following one's own aspect, therefore, self-awareness itself is the result. If someone asks, then is seeing the object itself manifest? It is not like that, because there is no essence of the object of the external object. If it is not seen, it is not the measurable object of direct perception, because the direct
