Furthermore, it is said: 'Devoid of the distinction of seeing, not grasping; if grasping, it is because of grasping. Seeing appears as blue; external objects do not exist arbitrarily.' Regarding this statement, because it does not grasp blue as being separate from the distinction of seeing itself; similarly, because it does not grasp seeing as being separate from blue; when grasping blue, seeing also grasps the nature of blue; similarly, when grasping seeing as blue, it also grasps the nature of seeing as blue. Seeing is that which appears as blue, and is not without form. Similarly, seeing blue is not external, therefore, there is no object separate from seeing. Thus, whatever is seen, should be acknowledged as it is, for example, blue is distinct from yellow. The realm of seeing itself appears as blue, and is not separate, therefore, it should not be acknowledged as external. However, if it is said that seeing is an inner appearance, and the object that appears as blue externally is close to it, that is not correct, because the existence of another does not allow it to appear as blue. Even if another exists, it is not appropriate to manifest inferiority, because the object itself is hidden by its own nature. If it is said that blue and so on are not hidden by their own nature, then it would become the nature of enlightenment, and if there is no hiddenness, then enlightenment would be experienced. Therefore, the knowledge of blue abides in the self-illuminating nature. If there is no object separate from seeing, then what is the difference between the appearance of blue and yellow, etc.? If the eye itself makes seeing different, like hairs and so on, then it would become seeing one nature, for example, like an eye obscured by cataracts seeing hairs in the sky. Because blue and so on are the appearance of the knowledge of the pure eye of various natures, therefore, the nature of various objects is what makes knowledge different. It is said: Therefore, some things awaken the inner habits, therefore, wisdom is of various determinations.

That which is "not dependent on external objects." In the case of the arising of seeing blue, some say that it is due to the awakening of internal habitual tendencies related to the environment, etc. From the awakening of habitual tendencies, the characteristics of the environment and time are determined, but it is not dependent on external objects. Similarly, attachment, etc., also have the characteristics of determining the environment and time due to the difference in the awakening of habitual tendencies. In any case, with the conceptualization of unreal appearances, the memory of experiencing previous environments is merely the part that determines each environment, and it is not dependent on objects. Just as the cause of knowledge such as dreams is definite, so too, due to different habitual tendencies, it is also definite when the knowledge of blue, etc., is awakened. But knowledge related to external objects is not seen anywhere. Therefore, from seeing the aspect of knowledge, one does not realize the object. In order to summarize, it is said: "Therefore, one exists with two aspects, whichever is such experience and, the aspect of memory, these two, experience is the fruit." This means that the knowledge with two aspects, the aspect of blue and the aspect of cognition, is one. Why is that? Because from whatever the nature of blue and the nature of cognition are experienced and remembered in this way, therefore the experience of knowledge with two aspects, blue and cognition, is the fruit, because there is no experience of the object. Does external knowledge not realize experience? If it is self-cognition, how is it explained? It is said: "When desire or non-desire or, that thing is accomplished then others, the objects of the cause of consciousness, etc., also, it experiences in this way." This means that when things of the nature of desire or non-desire, etc., are accomplished from the cause, then what other thing besides desire or non-desire becomes the object of the cause of consciousness? Because when there is no different blue, consciousness experiences blue, etc., in that way, therefore self-cognition itself is the fruit, and object-cognition is attachment, just like dreaming. Or, in order to show that the consciousness-proponents say that the knowable cognition itself is the fruit.
