Therefore, it can be seen. If for things like yellow, the cognition itself, not recognizing the thing, will it change like that? To this, ask: What is the obvious cognition of things? What is the individual experience? This is it. Through what does the cognition of things arise? If so, it will become an illusion. Regarding this question, what is the cognition of things that is related to external things? Is it without form? Or is it with form? It has already been said that there is no cognition of things apart from form. However, when this cognition manifestly experiences things in a form-like manner, if the cognition of things exists, then this cognition is manifest. And through what cause is it known that this cognition is related to things? They explain it like this: the form cognition of blue and so on, knowledge itself is the cognition of things, but this is just talk, it is not the cognition of things. Or, the cognition of things can be established from similarity, because without external things, there is no form of it. If it is said that illusion arises from similarity with this, then for those with eye diseases, the lines of hair and mosquitoes, etc., even without external things, there are forms such as interlaced hair lines. How can it become the cognition of things from similarity with this? Or, from where does this experience come? This itself needs to be examined. Regarding this question, if things do not exist, then from where does this experience of knowledge come at that time? Experience is because experience becomes the cause of things. If things do not exist, then will experience also not exist? Then, how can a person with eye disease experience two moons? Or, is it definitely realized that the experienced thing is contradictory? Or, what needs to be examined is this that abides in the experienced thing, how can it abide in the experienced thing without seeing the thing? Or, is it experiencing things because it arises from things? Then, the eye will also become cognition, because experience arises from it. Or, because the form of the eye is not knowledge, is it speculated that the external thing is that form? Shouldn't it be speculated that the eye itself is that form? Or, to speculate external things through external forms.

If asked: Then, just as the surface of a mirror has the image of a face, one should observe the face in the external realm. Therefore, everything exists in its own nature, just as the image of a face appears as the dharma of the external realm, it is reasonable to say so. Commentary on the Compendium on Valid Cognition, Volume Fourteen. Thus, it is temporarily shown that the question is wrong, therefore it is not the establishment of the distinction of meaning. Now, in order to show that there is no similarity, it is said: Those atoms, by what, can they become similar to appearing as coarse things? Regarding the sentence "Those atoms, by what, can they become similar to appearing as coarse things?", for what consciousness appears as coarse, those tiny minute particles, by what power do they make them similar? It is not like that. Because the aspects of coarse and minute are contradictory. It is also shown in the second chapter that there is no similarity in terms of parts. If it is said that the object, the aspects of blue etc. are similar to consciousness, then it is not so. Because before realizing the aspects of blue etc., there is no shape; and also before realizing the shape, there is no blue etc. If the nature of blue etc. is consciousness, then one will obtain the coarse nature. In order to closely summarize, it is said: That is not its real meaning, if it exists, it will become confused. That nature of experience cannot be established. Such words are spoken. Therefore, that, for that consciousness, does not have the nature of an object. Even if there is the nature of an object, it will become confused. For hair and leeches etc., it is not necessary to strongly establish the real thing that experiences that object, because it is not establishing another meaning of confusion itself. If one can establish an object merely through similarity, it is not established, because hair etc. are confused. If one knows the object in order to generate consciousness, then it will also lead to the fault that the eye sense also becomes the grasper of the object. If it is said that one knows the object through the consciousness that has its aspect and arises from it, then it is said: Similar to it and arising from it, if it becomes the characteristic of experience, then the consciousness that has the same meaning, will immediately experience that similarity. Regarding the sentence "Similar to it and arising from it, if it becomes the characteristic of experience, then the consciousness that has the same meaning, will immediately experience that similarity", if what arises from that object and has its aspect itself is the characteristic of knowing the object, then, for what consciousness has the same meaning, that
