Indeed. Therefore, if the cognition arising from the senses is related to existence and non-existence, or if it is considered to change from the change of the eyes, both of these exist in the apparent phenomena. Here it is also said: Like illusions such as ropes, even if the senses change, the reversed senses are deluded, even if reversed, they do not change. Likewise, in other causes, sometimes they are established by words. Seeing depends on memory, but it does not appear clearly. It is said. If it is (considered) the cognition of two moons, then even if the senses change due to cataracts, etc., the cognition of two moons will not be reversed. For example, when the eyes are changed by cataracts, etc., the phenomenon of seeing a rope as a snake through observation will be reversed. Seeing two moons, even if observing the real moon, as long as there are cataracts, it will still exist. Furthermore, the senses are deluded, even if the senses change, the cognition of two moons will not be reversed, just like the illusion of a snake without observation. Similarly, sometimes in other continuums, that is, in bodies without cataracts, it is also said that sounds, etc., will establish the cognition of two moons, etc., that is, it will produce (the cognition of two moons, etc.), just like snake illusions, etc. For example, when there are cataracts, etc., hearing the sound saying "This is a snake," other people will generate the cognition of a snake. Similarly, for the previously seen two moons, the cognition of two moons depends on memory. For example, the snake cognition on a rope is like depending on the memory of the previously seen snake. Furthermore, if the cognition of two moons is consciousness, it will not appear clearly. Wasn't the previous cognition of the rope also appearing clearly as blue in the external object? The water cognition in a mirage, and the small illusions, are not born from the senses. If it is also said that what appears in a dream is also clear in consciousness, then here it is answered: Seeing the rope appearing blue, this is indeed born from the senses, and if the eyes, etc., change, it will also change accordingly. The blue appears clearly, even if the mirage appears clearly, the attachment to water is produced from memory, because without memory, the conceptualization of water will not arise. Dream

The appearance in dreams arises from the power of habituation, so it is clear. The consciousness of a clear dream, because it is without conceptualization, is no different from the appearance of direct perception arising from the senses. Some say that the phrase "of the mind..." in this text refers to the mind with conceptualization, not just the mind itself. Therefore, there are two kinds of apparent direct perception: that with conceptualization and that which is obscured without conceptualization. Among these, that which is apparent direct perception without conceptualization is the cause of clear appearance. There are only two meanings: sense faculty and habituation. If that is the case, then what is the mind that appears clearly when one is asleep or awake? That is without conceptualization, in either state. If it is not so, then it is conceptualization. Regarding this, or what is consciousness without conceptualization and what is consciousness with conceptualization? Because what is the characteristic of consciousness that experiences an object? If it is said that it is the same for all, then it is said: When a person is asleep or awake, the mind that appears clearly is without conceptualization, because it only appears as near. Whether asleep or awake, if it is not so, that is, if the mind is one that appears clearly, then it is conceptualization, because it adds before and after. Therefore, experiencing abiding in the consciousness arising from the mind or the senses is without conceptualization. In order to show that however much consciousness is without conceptualization is not valid cognition, it is said: Therefore, even if it is without conceptualization, it is excluded from being valid cognition, because it is deceptive, and for that purpose, four kinds of apparent direct perception are taught. That is to say, the appearance of two moons, even if it is without conceptualization, is excluded from being valid cognition, because it is deceptive in accomplishing a purpose. Consciousness that is not deceptive is valid cognition. Therefore, if being separate from conceptualization is valid cognition, then in that case, seeing two moons would also become valid cognition, what is said is clear. For that purpose, that is, in order to show that the appearance of two moons is not valid cognition, the teacher taught two kinds of apparent direct perception. If the category of the "i" particle is separated, it is in order to separately indicate being obscured by cataracts, because if it is not so, then one with cataracts would say below that they separately have cataracts.
