At that time, I (referring to the concept of "I") am neither the doer nor the enjoyer of those causes and effects, because there is no connection between the doer and the enjoyer, just like the "I" of another. From experience, there is also no connection, just like "I" and another. In this way, the yogi, in order to create and enjoy, would become both the doer and the enjoyer. However, if it is said that the relationship of combination and aggregation itself is the enjoyer and the doer, because creation and enjoyment are the substance of cause and effect, then "I" becomes the doer and the enjoyer, that is not correct, because it has been explained that the power of "I" has not been established. If it is said that momentary things will also become without memory and enjoyment, etc., because there is no unified experiencer, that is not true. Because: "Another's memory and enjoyment, Faults are also harmful, Because he has no memory of what, Memory arises from experience." If it is said, what is the fault and connection of non-self? The knowledge of experience is different, and memory is also different, so how can memory arise from experience by others? In this way, whoever creates good deeds, etc., that person has already perished at that moment, so the act of creation will disappear; and whoever enjoys the fruit, that person is another, so he will encounter uncreated actions, these faults will not cause harm to anyone. Because whoever has experienced, that person has no memory, so no rememberer will remember, because he no longer exists. There is also no enjoyer, because there is no enjoyer. However, in memory itself, there is the so-called rememberer and the object of the rememberer. Similarly, in happiness itself, there is the so-called object to be enjoyed, the enjoyer, and enjoyment. Therefore, the enjoyer is not permanent, and memory arises from the object to be remembered, due to the power of experience. If it is said, why does experience not produce memory in the continuum of others, and why does enjoyment not arise from the actions of others? Because the substance of cause and effect is certain. For example, a seed that has been altered by opium will not produce cotton flowers.

Appearances arise, appearing red due to the certainty of cause and effect. However, it is not oneness, as direct perception and inference establish distinctness. Similarly, since it is certain that things are causes and effects, the continuum related to memory, actions, and results exists within that very self. If it is said, 'What is experienced by me, why is it not remembered by others?' It is because the self is different. How is that difference known? If you say, 'Because there is no memory, etc.,' it is not so, because it would lead to mutual dependence. Furthermore, just as memory does not arise from others even though the self is not different, similarly, even if consciousness is not different, memory does not arise from the consciousness of another continuum. Moreover, difference may also exist due to the difference in the causes of thought, but since the self has no cause, by what would it be different? If you say, 'But if there is no self, how can the thought of "I see" and "I remember" be one?' Does not the same fault apply to the self? By what valid cognition is it known that the self is the one who performs the act of remembering and seeing? If you say, 'It is known by direct perception,' then it has been shown that it does not allow for before and after. Without direct perception, inference cannot enter. If the self, which is the nature of what was previously experienced, knows the self, then the previous experience itself will not be experienced, because the one who knows the previous itself will not exist. What has been experienced cannot be the previous itself, and from the perspective of memory, it cannot be called the previous, because that is not a valid cognition. If you say, 'But one remembers what was previously made into an object,' then, friends, all previous experiences will be remembered, and I am not the one who distinguishes between the previous and the subsequent. Therefore, due to the power of beginningless habitual tendencies, the arising of the thought "That is me" does not mean that the self exists. Then, how does one enter into cyclic existence without a self? If there is no self, since there is no view of self, and memory is also devoid of the nature of before and after, if one cannot grasp it as oneness and permanence, then how is that cyclic existence? Here it is said, 'In ultimate truth, there is no cyclic existence; one realizes the nature of oneself from oneself.'
