A commentary on the Pramāṇavārttika, entitled "Hidden Sun." A commentary on the Pramāṇavārttika. Entitled "Hidden Sun." ༄༅༅།། །།In Indian language: Pramāṇavārttikasyīvṛttināma. In Tibetan: A commentary on the Pramāṇavārttika, entitled. First chapter. Homage to the Bhagavan Mañjuśrī Jñānasattva. Penetrating the place of existence, done by pride, is pervaded by that itself. Like unbearable darkness entering due to the power of dizziness, these are those who look at the other side. Victorious over intoxication with desire, the one who is renowned as the one who manifests that very nature. May the nectar of bliss that illuminates all the worlds purify the world. Thus, in order to enter the four noble truths, having established inference, and in order to show that, the verses of homage in the second chapter are clearly explained. Here, the nature of valid cognition and, since the Bhagavan is considered to be valid cognition. The teacher praises at the beginning of the treatise with "the one who has become valid cognition." The one who has become valid cognition intends to benefit beings. Having paid homage to the teacher, the Sugata, the protector. From the scattering of one's own tenets, here is the only one. Composed by collecting all the established valid cognitions. Thus it is said, here also, with the first half, because of the perfection of cause and effect, the Bhagavan who has become valid cognition is shown. Among them, the perfect cause is twofold, compassion and, means. Among them, compassion is shown by the phrase "intending to benefit beings." The means to be accustomed to is by the phrase "teacher." The perfect fruit is also twofold, perfect self-interest and, perfect other-interest. Among them, perfect self-interest is shown by the phrase "Sugata." Among them, the word "good" takes three meanings closely, namely, going beautifully and, going without returning and, going for the sake of the meaning without remainder. Like a beautiful form and, a well-cleansed epidemic and, a completely filled vase. Other Perfect other-interest is also shown by the phrase "protector." With the Dharmakāya that has not completely passed into nirvāṇa, all beings are completely protected. Whoever has become like that is called the birth of valid cognition. Below

If not divided, it shows the necessity and the summarized meaning of the treatise. Among them, the words "valid cognition is established" show the necessity. The rest shows the summarized nature of one's own tenets. Thus, residing in the meaning of the verses, some people argue: Why should the Bhagavan, who has become valid cognition, be established? Thus, the Vedic scholars, or the knowledge arising from it, is valid cognition because it is free from harm, like direct perception and inference. Knowledge without harm is valid cognition. If so, wanting to answer the debate on the definition of valid cognition, in order to show the common definition, the commentary is made, hence it is said, "Valid cognition is knowledge that is not deceptive." Knowledge is valid cognition, because if it exists, it can accomplish determination, and it can also reject the senses, etc. Whoever has non-deception, then the knowledge that he has is undoubtedly valid cognition, because it can reject deception. Otherwise, if the senses, etc., become valid cognition, then the senses obscured by cataracts should also become valid cognition. If asked how it can become valid cognition because it is impaired by faults such as cataracts? Answer: Because it transcends the senses, how can one know that the eye has cataracts? If it is said that the arising of deceptive knowledge will surely show that it has faults. If that is the case, then only from the arising of seeing that is unrelated to deception, it can be determined to be pure, therefore non-deceptive knowledge itself is valid cognition. Saying "non-deceptive" is also to reject other definitions of valid cognition. Therefore, how can that which has become the nature of wisdom and awakening become valid cognition? Because if one admits that only the nature of awakening is valid cognition, then seeing two moons should become valid cognition. Or, if non-harmful awakening is valid cognition, then when does non-harmful knowledge arise from seeing, or when does non-harmful knowledge arise at other times? At that time, because it is not established that there is no harm, how can it become the definition of valid cognition? At other times, it cannot be determined that it will not become harm. Furthermore, if the first statement is admitted, then at that time also
