If it is said like that, without direct perception, how can it be inferred by inference? Or, because the self (Sanskrit: ātman) is very subtle, only yogis can become its object. If it is said that we and others cannot see it now, then it is not certain that yogis can see it either. Moreover, because there is awareness even without us and others, it should be admitted that the self is only the nature of self-awareness. If it is not like that, it will lead to its non-existence. Moreover, if happiness and so on become like the nature of a mountain, then it will be destroyed. Who is attached to the self, how would he want that self to be destroyed? It should be admitted that that self is the nature of no suffering. If it is suffering, but not happiness, then in the time of suffering, the self itself will not exist. Or, if it is the stage of happiness and suffering that is destroyed, but not the self, then it is not like that. Because it cannot be recognized except for happiness and so on. If the nature of happiness and suffering and so on is abandoned, then it is not the case that the self appears as other awareness. Therefore, just as happiness and suffering are different, similarly, the self of its nature will also be different. Or, because of attachment to awareness and the one who has awareness, the self is different. If it is like that, then from the conceptualization of experience and the one who has experience, if the self is different, then the self will also be different from other selves. Or, because of self-evidence, others cannot recognize the self, therefore I am different. If recognizing happiness also cannot recognize suffering, therefore that is different awareness. In this way, because the before and after are not the same, then it will lead to the destruction of the nature of suffering. Then, how would the one who is attached to the self want to be destroyed? Because it is a firm constant, it will abide in the nature of suffering. Is the constant firm, is it not the case that the later stages are not awareness? How can that be the constant that abides in it? Because it is the object of change and gradual arising. If it is the object of gradual arising, then at that time destruction will be obtained. If that is the case, if you want the object of gradual arising, then you will also want destruction.

Then, how could one who is attached to self want to destroy it? If one thinks that the same thing is the same in the present, then the before and after are the same. If one sees a different nature, then it will appear as different. If that is the case, then just as the previous destruction, how could one want to destroy what one is attached to? However, as far as the nature of conceptualization is concerned, everything is the same. This is because differences with special characteristics appear as different. For example, space is not different, but there are differences such as the space of a pot and the space of a cloth. Therefore, the idea that I am different is caused by ignorance. Here it is said: If there is no pot, there is no space of a pot. If there is no pot, space will mix with other spaces, so space is not different. Similarly, because I am not different, there is no difference between myself and parts other than myself, so I will deteriorate. The thought that "I" is the nature of distinguishing from other things, so for things that have become the nature of space, there is no action and enjoyment, etc., so it is different like space. If that is the case, then how would that self that is attached to me want to destroy it? If it is said that this comes from the power of things themselves, then it will fall into the state of no-self, because one only recognizes one's own nature. If it is said that knowledge itself is self, which is constant and all-pervasive, then what is the all-pervasiveness of knowledge? Suppressing all directions is all-pervasive, and isn't being all-pervasive in many times constant? Because self-awareness also clings to the differences of place and time, how can I be all-pervasive and constant? If it is said that I exist in the nature of other things such as pots, then it will also become samsara, because it also exists in the nature of gods and Rasins, etc. Therefore, if liberation is attained, then sentient beings will also disappear, because such liberation is not necessary at all, so those yogis who first engage in conceptualization are surprised. Ultimately, doesn't the self depend on actions and enjoyments, etc.? Even so, this arises only from the habits of ignorance.
