Therefore, it is unreasonable to say that "because it is samsara, there is no liberation" because this reason is not established, therefore there is no liberation. Because what is liberation, there is no liberator either. If the samsaric being itself is not liberation, then liberation is something else, and bondage is something else, because others are hungry and others are full. Then, how would those with wisdom strive to manifestly for the cause? The answer is: As long as the habitual tendencies have not been destroyed, then it will be completely tormented. As long as this is the case, suffering will be fabricated, and will not naturally exist. Even if there is no liberator, one will strive to destroy the false fabrication. The state of being free from desire is through compassion. The meaning of this statement is: If it is said that one will not enter into manifest realization, that is just a wish. Because having realized the suchness, I do not apply my mind anywhere, so there is no effort, because there is equanimity towards acceptance and rejection. If one argues that we etc. will not enter, then, we etc. cling to one, thinking that it is bondage and liberation, because clinging to one, it is reasonable to enter. Like this, as long as the attachment to self and what belongs to self has not transformed, one will be completely tormented in samsara, suffering will be fabricated, and will not abide in reality. Therefore, one merely fabricates one, and then establishes names, but from the ultimate truth, names are not established from the power of things themselves, because names are related to understanding. Like this, because one fabricates a rope as a snake, there is effort for the sake of abandoning. Even if my own nature has no liberator, effort arises for the sake of destroying false fabrication, for the sake of destroying fabrication. If one enters from false fabrication, then because there is no false fabrication in realizing suchness, one will not enter into abiding and teaching the Dharma etc., therefore, how would the Bhagavan become a valid cognition? One who is free from desire abides in compassion at the edge of samsara, and teaches the Dharma, for example, for the benefit of the subjects, the king himself

Just like diligently practicing meditation. Or, do it before those who are free from desire, and stay for a slightly longer time. This is the form of cessation. So, if the karma of being free from desire causes it to abide, then because there is karma done in other worlds, wouldn't it be connected to the next life? If karma has no power, then the abiding of being free from desire will disappear? Here it says: Because wanting no abandonment and return, completely transcending from the desire of existence, other karma has no ability to abandon, because all that is done together is exhausted. It means that the mind stream abandoned by previous karma abides without effort to return. Abandonment is capable of returning without effort, because the effort and abandonment of being free from desire abides there with equanimity. Therefore, karma without effort does not produce other worlds, because what is done together has no nature of desire. If one is free from desire, previous karma cannot abandon other births. Doesn't compassion mean wanting the suffering of sentient beings? Because there are no sentient beings, if clinging to sentient beings is a mistake, then how can those without desire have it? If there is clinging to sentient beings, then one cannot see no-self? Here it says: Knowing suffering and without contradiction, the preceding formations, the arising of love of reality, is not connected with sentient beings. It means that when all suffering with three kinds of suffering is fully manifested, when grasping at the nature of suffering impermanence, etc., the love arising from the habit of compassion that is free from all faults and without contradiction is the dharma of reality, because it focuses on the nature of reality. That love is not connected with sentient beings, because it completely abandons clinging to sentient beings. Whatever is thought is love, and that is of those without desire, not of others. Those with desire, having abandoned clinging to sentient beings, how can they have love for living beings? Like that

Then, what is the difference between attachment and compassion? If it is said that a person with loving-kindness is not greedy, but has attachment, then the difference is stated as follows: For the Dharma of selflessness, attachment arises because of clinging to self and other. Compassion arises from merely the aggregate contact of the continuation of suffering. Compassion and attachment have great differences because the causes and objects are different. For example, for the Dharma with characteristics such as impermanence and suffering, there is clinging to self and other, that is, clinging to other characteristics such as permanence and happiness. Compassion is merely the manifestation of the continuation of suffering, because it is reversed from distorted knowledge. Therefore, compassion arises merely from seeing the continuation of suffering, so it is completely different from attachment. If compassion does not become the nature of attachment, but becomes the nature of hatred, because seeing unpleasant things will produce the opposite thought, then it is said here: The root of faults is ignorance, and that is clinging to sentient beings. If there is no such clinging, there will be no cause for anger, and there will be no hatred. Therefore, compassion is a fault. If one sees someone harming oneself, hatred will arise, although there is actually no "I", but there is still the thought of clinging to "I", which is ignorance, the cause of faults such as attachment, that is, clinging to existence. If there is no such clinging, then the cause of harming oneself is not hatred, because sentient beings are not seen. Therefore, compassion is free from all faults, and is not the nature of faults such as attachment. Even so, if a person who is free from attachment still has a body, then will he still not be liberated? It is not that there is no liberation, if the previous actions are exhausted, then other continuations will not be connected. If the ability to act is not exhausted, then the one without faults will abide. These are the minds that are free from attachment and so on abiding in liberation, which shows that not all knowledge of self will disappear. Furthermore, the connection of the previous life is caused by the actions of previous karma.
