If that which becomes the object of focus is not due to the difference of the faculties, then how does it become the means of proof? Or, if the faculties are not necessarily the means of proof for understanding, then it is not a reason, because it is determined by the aspect. At that time, if you think that the appearance as an object is also not necessarily what determines the different knowledge, so it is a valid cognition. Therefore, it is said, "If that exists, then it exists." This means that when the appearance of forms such as blue arises, it will definitely be understood, because the aspect is the nature of understanding. If that is the case, then how can there be a result of valid cognition since there is no difference? There is no result different from valid cognition. However, it should be understood that knowledge itself is considered valid cognition by the aspect of blue and so on, and by the nature of understanding it is known to be the result. If you see a part, how do you know that it is in contact with it? Because it is not seeing the non-deceptive direct perception, it is only the appearance of the aspect of blue and so on that is close to it, so it is not what distinguishes the non-deceptive and the other knowledge. Otherwise, at the time of the arising of knowledge, it is certain that there is contact and the other is determined, so there is no confusion at all, and the contradiction is seen. Although it may be so, if the reason of not arising without meaning itself becomes a valid cognition, because there is no difference from that which has become understanding in the nature of understanding. Even if there is a cause of confusion, it is because it is not certain in some cases, so for it, it becomes a valid cognition from others, and where the knowledge arises after abandoning confusion due to extreme familiarity with the contact, it is valid cognition itself because it generates the experience of how it is. Therefore, not arising without meaning depends on being in contact with meaning, so it is established, or it depends on the object of present appearance and so on. If you say that it is completely grasped because it exists before that, it is not reasonable, because if there is no appearance of being in contact with meaning, it does not grasp the non-arising without it. If at that time, although what is to be contacted is not an appearance, the non-arising without it is the nature of knowledge, how can it not be known? To that it is said:

If it is thought that "without grasping the non-deceiver, one grasps what does not arise without it," then, if there is no distinction for the one who encounters, just as there is no deception in accomplishing the desired meaning, it will also become the consciousness that grasps the power of the undesired result. Therefore, consciousness will manifest its own nature, but it is not the case that the meaning of encounter does not arise without it. However, if the second view is accepted, then seeing two forms in the moon, which does not arise without the meaning of being in front, will also become valid cognition. If it is thought that from seeing the accomplishment of the meaning, the previous consciousness is determined to be valid cognition, although it is so, it will be a fault of mutual dependence. Because from entering into the determination of valid cognition, one understands that one can do what is to be done, therefore, because the previous consciousness is valid cognition, it will enter like a rotating wheel. Furthermore, seeing the accomplishment of the meaning refers to seeing boiling, burning, etc., and the previous form, etc., which is the object of the appearing proof, because the objects are different, it is not valid cognition. However, if the consciousness of accomplishing the meaning itself is the same object, even so, because the meaning is the same, how can there be doubt about the previous consciousness? Furthermore, when the non-deceptive consciousness arises, the previous consciousness no longer exists, therefore, since the previous consciousness acts on the objectless, how can the consciousness arising from smoke obtain the status of valid cognition? Because it would be too extreme. However, if it is said that the inference arising from the sign of accomplishing the meaning, even if the object does not exist, the previous consciousness will become valid cognition, just as where there is smoke, there is fire, then how is it determined that the inference is valid cognition? Although it will change in that way, the inference is determined by itself to be valid cognition, that is, it arises from the power of the sign of determining the relationship. Because it is seen that direct perception is covered by a multitude of delusions, it is understood by others to be valid cognition, if it is thought in this way, it is not true, because in this way, is the determination of one's own sign determined by direct perception or by inference? If it is determined by direct perception, then the sign of determining direct perception, therefore, compared to inference, and determining direct perception by inference, because there is no valid cognition, it will clearly become mutually dependent.
