The cause of this is whether it is the action that is in accordance with the practice of previous habits? Or is it determined by the special ability to be attached to certain objects? Therefore, knowledge arises in accordance with the habits of previous habits, or knowledge arises only for certain objects from the difference of attachment. In this regard, the similar immediate cause is consciousness, which is the cause of the subsequent mind. The knowledge of habit is the habit of establishing the mind, which is the cause of having distractions and so on. How are these known? Because the mind that is separated from attachment to other things besides the desired object, even if it is close to other objects, it will not grasp. Following the following and returning also determines the cause. Here, the consciousness of the mind that follows the previous habits appears to have distractions, and the mind that makes one away from attachment to other objects, because knowledge does not arise for other objects. All minds are only minds that go before. Although it changes like this, the first body itself produces consciousness, and later consciousness itself produces consciousness. For example, fire first produces smoke, and then smoke itself becomes the cause of smoke. Just as the continuity of smoke is cut off at other times, so will the continuity of the life mind be cut off at other times. Just as the first consciousness arises from many objects, so does one consciousness arise from attachment to certain objects. Similarly, when it is first born, the body produces many consciousnesses, but at other times only consciousness produces consciousness. Therefore, if it is said that the body and life etc. are the cause itself, but many consciousnesses will not arise, then, here the answer is: If the body gives rise to wisdom once, and later it is determined to arise from self-awareness, then why does the ability of the body decline? If the consciousness born from the body is later determined to be born from the consciousness of the mind of its own kind, if this is the case, then the ability of the body produces consciousness, why does it decline? Thus, if the body is the cause of one consciousness, the body also abides in the ability itself, so other and different minds will arise, so the situation where many consciousnesses appear at the same time exists. Or, the consciousness born from the body to the body...

If it is thought that because the body hinders the arising of multiple consciousnesses, consciousness does not arise from the body, this is not true. Because the result arising from it does not hinder the continuous ability of that itself. For example, the smoke produced by fire does not hinder the fire's ability to produce smoke. Therefore, if consciousness arises from the body, then the arising of consciousness will not hinder the arising of consciousness, so many will arise simultaneously. If it is thought that even though multiple sense consciousnesses arise, it is only said that one consciousness arises from the object of attachment, then that statement is not true. Because an unfamiliar mind does not cause other consciousnesses to arise, since if one is not previously familiar, one will not have attachment to other objects. Just as familiarity arises in the mind previously, it will again become attached, so the arising of other minds is only from previous familiarity. For those who say there is no other world, since there is no familiarity in other lives, the consciousnesses arising from karma will again return to the previous fault like a wheel. Or, if it is thought that the cause of consciousness is the first moment of the body, but the later moment of the body is not the cause, if only the first body produces consciousness, then the later body will become without the support of consciousness, and consciousness will become wandering. Or, if it is thought that because consciousness aided by the later body produces other consciousnesses, consciousness will not become wandering, then in that case, it will become that only consciousness produces consciousness, and the body is only a helper, so the Buddhist view itself will be established. Is only the first body the material cause? For example, like rice arising from manure. The later rice arises from rice itself. If that is the case, just as without cow dung, later rice arises from rice itself, consciousness will also arise from consciousness itself, so wandering consciousness will become the place of consciousness. Is the body not also the cause of consciousness? Therefore, the body and consciousness exist together. This is true. The body is a cause that benefits consciousness, but it is not the material cause. Here, the first body is the mate

If it is said that the former is taken and the latter acts as a companion, isn't that what is said? The former is the proximate cause, and the latter is not a companion. However, the former is the mind with a body or proximate cause, and the latter appears as the mind that precedes the mind. If it is said like this, it is not true, because the consciousness with distraction, etc., just as seeing the consciousness that precedes consciousness, the first mind will also experience distraction, therefore it always abides in the fact that consciousness arises only from consciousness. These refute the statement that just as the continuity of smoke ceases, so does consciousness cease. Because, when approaching a collection of fire, etc., the continuity of smoke becomes more intense, but the continuity of smoke produced by smoke is exhaustible. Here, what appears is the distracted consciousness of the mind that precedes habituation. If it arises again from the very first body, then it will not appear to increase from excellent habituation, just as the smoke produced from smoke does not appear to increase. If the consciousness spoken of by the Buddha does not rely on the body, then even when the body is destroyed, consciousness will remain, because it is determined to be a causeless co-emergent thing. If it is said: Even if the body that is not the basis is destroyed, only the mind remains, abiding and transforming, that is because of obtaining the entry of that cause, therefore the mindstream abides. If the cause is not a limb, then the five aggregates of this life are the cause of the body of the next life. Thus it is said. Even if the body is destroyed, only the mind remains, because the body and mind are not determined to be the object of support and the supported. If it is said like this, karma, craving, and ignorance are the cause of the mind's existence, because the cause of the body that is reborn in another life is another body, because from that, the entry of producing another body is obtained. If it is not a limb, that is, the cause itself, then at that time the mind will exist alone, which is a superfluous statement. For example, just as the consciousness of beings born in the formless realm exists alone. Whenever the cause of the body produced in the next world is the five aggregates of this life, then why does the mind exist alone?
