If asked, is it not a transformation? Here it is said: Reverse entities are different, therefore different. Transforming becomes non-different in meaning, but like sound, not action or substance. This means that according to the Buddhist view, sounds such as numbers are different. How so? Because the things to be expressed, which are possessed by the differences caused by the reverse entities and pervasively posited, are different. For example, a substance is not an action, and an action is not a substance, but here there is no other meaning. Even so, the sounds that are not actions and the sounds that are not substances, etc., are not synonyms, therefore the difference in reverse entities itself is the cause of sound and knowledge, but not of kinds, etc. If kinds, etc., do not exist, then how can the white cow and the whiteness of the cow itself, as a common basis and having different supports, exist? Here it is said: By the sounds that express things, like being different from that and possessing that, whatever expresses numbers, etc., also cuts off other dharmas. For those who want to know only this much, speech is that which abandons all others, explaining like different dharmas, like joining palms in some cases. Although one meaning is spoken, everything is not abandoned, therefore it is said to be a possessor of dharma, appearing like joined palms, abiding in such indication. Here it is said that "whatever" refers to numbers, etc. The sound of "etc." refers to possessing, etc. Wherever numbers, etc., exist, it is stated as if separated from the possessor of dharma that possesses those numbers, etc. By what is it stated? By sounds, that is, expressing things, that is, those sounds that express dharmas, numbers, etc., are able to cut off other dharmas, that is, abiding in difference. Precisely because of this, wanting to understand only the dharma that abandons other dharmas, that is, the thing to be shown, the sound indicates like a different dharma. What kind of sound? It is the sound that possesses the abandonment of all others, that is, the sound that is able to abandon the nature of all other dharmas. Here also, an example is given, like joining palms in some cases, this refers to the sound that appears as expressing dharma. The so-called "like joined palms" refers to the sound that indicates the possessor of dharma, why? Because it abandons all dharmas, thereby showing its nature. In reality,
