The distinct entities of different things are not so, but due to the different appearances of manifestation. The wisdom of realization arising from the power of the habits of realization appears as genus, etc., but is not the cause of things. Therefore, relying on the difference of following and pervasive examination, the wisdom of genus, etc., arises. For example, on a cow's individual, one sees other white, and on white, one sees other black cows. Therefore, following and pervasive examination can cut off different genera, which means examining the conceptual thoughts that follow distinct entities. For fabricated objects, how can the distinctness of sound and consciousness establish the distinctness of genus and qualities, etc.? For example, qualities, etc., are of one nature, although there are twenty-four qualities and five actions, qualities, etc., have numbers, but having numbers is not so, because they depend on substance. It is not permissible to establish names in this way by examining the number of the bases, because although the bases are distinct, the essence is one. Commentary on the Pramāṇavārttika, Chapter 6. "How is it known to be one for the destroyed and the unborn? If it is said to be proximity, then that is accepted as the cause. Why is that not accepted as the cause for all things?" If, for the destroyed and the unborn, oneness is established and names are given, realization is proximity to the past, etc. This is the cause of the consciousness of realization. That which is enhanced by beginningless realization becomes the cause of sound and consciousness for all things, but not the touch of things. Proximity is also not pervasive. If it is said that there is a difference, what is known by this as a thing? If it is said that there is no difference, it is said to be a non-different meaning. Different meanings are not causal, white, etc., have numbers, etc., and having sound is not a different name. If there is also a difference in that, qualities and objects become different. It changes in this way, but proximity is called the cause of things. If that is not a thing, how can it be established? A thing is established as distinct.

Just as the well-known staff-bearer and other special things in the mundane world, the non-different special is a mere imputation. The Buddha is established by the realization of the former by the former, because the special does not exist. If there is no special that has become different, then because there is no thing, it will not become a pervasive imputation. If you say so, that is not right. If whatever is externally different is called real, then how is that known? Even if it is separated from the different special, only the fame of the different special seen by realization is completely a thing. The object of the mind that is not inverted in realization is real, and the object of the knowledge of the one with realization is imputed, if you say so, this is well-known in the mundane world. Furthermore, whatever is a different object is real, and the other is imputed, if you say so, all of these are imputed, because there is no different special. For the past, etc., because there is also no special, it will become a proximate imputation. If there is no different special, then at that time, the non-different statement is the meaning of non-difference, it will become the nature of a synonym, and the phrase "one pot" will not become the same basis, because if there is a reason for distinction, it will become that way, won't it? If you say so, that is not true. Because for this, the thing that has no cause of different meaning is the cause of no different meaning. For qualities such as white, etc., having numbers, etc., the sound called one form, etc., is seen not to be a synonym, similarly, matter, etc., are also not synonyms. For white, etc., are numbers, etc., not different meanings? If so, then matter and qualities, etc., will have no difference, thus, having action, having qualities, and having the cause of accumulation is matter. If again qualities, etc., also have numbers, etc., then because it has qualities, it will become one with matter itself, and different qualities, etc., do not exist. If other schools think that white, etc., should not have the sound of numbers, etc., even so, according to your view, how will it become a different meaning?
