If it is said like this, if there are no senses, just like consciousness does not arise from walls etc., the eyes etc. are also like that, if there is no consciousness of the nature of mind, it will not arise, therefore, just like the consciousness related to the eyes etc., or the consciousness related to the body, the consciousness related to the eyes etc. is also like that. If it is like that, then they are mutual causes, they are mutually becoming causes. If it becomes like that, what is the fault? Because they are mutual causes. Just like now, at the time of birth and death, the body and mind mutually become causes, so it is not the case that there is no afterlife. It is said that there is harm in being related to the eyes etc., but there is no harm in being related to the body, isn't that too much? To show this reason, if it is said like that, it is not. Because the self-continuum of the mind's consciousness goes to the afterlife, so it is appropriate. Moreover, if it is said that the terms of shaking etc. are accustomed to their own kind will appear first, then, here it is said, it is not sequential, there is no sequence, there is no difference, and it is not dependent. If the body becomes consciousness sequentially, then, that also clearly shows the sequence. Saying like this, if the body related to the mind's consciousness is shown, then, the body with senses is also shown, because the reason related to the mind's consciousness is the same. Therefore it is also said, the cause is the body, is it permanent or impermanent? If it is impermanent, then why is it impossible for sequential consciousness to arise from a non-sequential, that is, a body without sequence? Because consciousness arises sequentially. If the body is permanent, then, it will become always producing results simultaneously. Although it will become like that, the one who relies on helping the permanent body is the cause, not the separate one. If the helper also produces results sequentially, then here it is said, for the object of benefit, permanence is not dependence, if it is like that, then there is no difference, because there is no difference in this. The meaning here is, there is help for the permanent body, is it because of doing the same thing, or because of establishing excellence. For the permanent helper, doing

If it is caused by aggregation, it is because the time of aggregation, like before, also occurs at various times. Therefore, the fruit associated with it will be obtained at that time, just as it is produced by the aggregation itself. However, if it is specifically established, then it does not exist in a constant and unchanging way. If it changes, then it will be said to be impermanent. So, if the body gradually arises in dependence on the previous consciousness, even so, the body will become momentary. Therefore, the body is accompanied by consciousness, and the previous, previous body will have the opportunity to arise together with consciousness. If that is the case, then, the previous, previous moment: each moment did not exist before, it will become the cause, therefore it will become the cause, and it will appear everywhere. That is to say, each moment that did not exist before, is the body with consciousness, that body with consciousness itself, the previous, previous moment of the body will become the cause. Therefore, just as seeing the Middle Way, the appearance itself is the cause, the body with consciousness arises, it exists for birth and death. This shows that even if the body itself is the cause, it can accomplish the next life. The mind of death is also not connected to other minds. For example, like the last mind. The mind of death will also die. At the time of transference, is it not the consciousness represented by self and others? If so, how is the next life accomplished? Therefore, it is said, what contradiction is there in the last mind being connected to other minds? That is to say, what contradiction is there in the mind of death being another mind, being connected to the mind that becomes the next life? Like this, the mind of death will also change, and there is a connection with another mind, what contradiction is there in this? This shows the uncertainty of hesitation. If it is said that the mind of death is connected to other minds, it will be seen as contradictory for an Arhat. Here it is said: The mind of an Arhat, for what reason, is it considered not to be connected? That is to say, the last mind of an Arhat, not being connected to other minds, by what valid cognition is it known? This shows that the part to be proven in the example is incomplete. Even if it changes like that, but for the mind of death that is free from attachment

Because the established tenet itself shows that (an Arhat's) mind will not connect with other minds. If someone asks, 'As it is said in the scriptures: When the mind is liberated, it ceases like a lamp.' Here, it is answered, 'Can a tenet that is not established by valid cognition truly understand the meaning?' A meaning that is not established by valid cognition is a tenet of meaning that is not completely established. How can it understand? The meaning here is, is the tenet a valid cognition or not? If it is not a valid cognition, then, just as grasping 'the mind free from desire shown by the tenet will not connect with other minds,' why not grasp 'the mind of myself and others spoken by the tenet will connect with other minds'? If it is not a valid cognition, then how can it be known that the mind free from desire has no connection? To this, the mind free from desire is not the cessation of all self-nature, but rather the cessation of the continuum of afflictions, and there is a completely pure mind. Liberation of the nature of ceasing like a lamp is a statement to outsiders, but it is not ultimately so.' It should be explained in this way. Commentary on the Compendium on Valid Cognition, Chapter Four. Here, the opponent's answer is: 'If it is because the cause is incomplete, why not say that here?' The meaning is, even if it transforms in that way, because the cause of the nature of ignorance and craving is incomplete, the mind free from desire will not connect with other minds. If that is the case, then why not say the incomplete cause here, that is, in the minds of our death? Because it is the mind of death. For 'because it is the mind of death,' etc., why establish an uncertain reason? If it is said that because the nature of the body is incomplete at the time of death, it is taken as a cause to be accepted or rejected, then what is the use of specifically establishing it here? However, only the mind of death should be established. If it is said that because that is uncertain, it is not established, then even so, the incompleteness of the cause is also not established, and it is similarly a fallacious reason. The incompleteness of the cause, etc., is an unestablished reason.
