As explained previously, the method of establishing the ground. Although speech is uncertain, the characteristic of a sign on things is established on impermanent things, because it is unreasonable for it to appear on permanent dharmas. For example, an owl; for the Vaisheshika school, the Buddha is the establisher of the body, etc. Thus, the method of making it understood is explained, and for this, this is a valid cognition. Extremely fine dust is impermanent, because it has a body. The words "etc." include tangible things. Regarding this, if sound is not established for the Vaisheshika school, even if it is not the universally existing body of a merchant, and the different qualities on tangible matter, the Buddha also says that tangible things themselves are the sound of having a body. The sound of tangible things, the establishment of different qualities from matter is not. Tangible things are actually established, therefore they are able to establish. If the thing itself is not established, and uncertain, etc., are not signs, similarly, if sound is not established or uncertain, then is it not a valid reason? Here it is said, that itself is confused, etc. Even if sound is not confused, it should be known that the establisher has faults, because things are established from things. It means that that itself is confused on things. The words "etc." include not established or contradictory, it should be known that it is a faulty establisher, not for sound, because it has no connection with things. Things are understood through connection, if it is separated from it, it cannot be understood, therefore, faults are established only by relying on things themselves. Or even if sounds are famous as not confused, but if a sound that is not confused is separated from things, then the establisher is flawed. Why? Because things are established from things, things themselves are the knower of things, because of the connection, sound is not, because it is confused. Then how can it not be confused? Because it is certain for the famous special realm. Therefore, even if those who want to understand are not confused, sounds cannot be understood because they are separated from the cause of connection. Regarding this, the difference of a calf is having teeth.

, because it has hands, this is called a metaphor. Here, it is also intended to express the meaning of the reason in relation to the elephant. Having hands is different from horned beings and other beings, therefore it is a false sign. Sound is said to apply to elephants, but it is not just the meaning of having hands. Those with understanding, due to obvious attachment, the sound itself is not mistaken. Therefore, even if it is impermanent, it is valid, this statement is well established. Also, the word "also" means that permanence is also the case. If there is no valid means to prove the existence of Ishvara, then wouldn't the various things created by Ishvara be harmed? How can it be determined that Ishvara does not exist? Here it is said: If a thing is a cause, then when is it not a cause? What is the cause of that which is not a cause? If one wants to be a cause, why not want to be a non-cause? In the commentary on the Pramāṇavārttika, the third chapter. If nature is the cause of various things, then when that nature is not the cause of the thing called Ishvara, by what means is it considered the cause? Why not consider it to be not the cause itself? The meaning here is that Ishvara, who is free from desire and other defilements, when creating, is without a cause as before, and is also without a cause when creating. When the mind of Ishvara engages in creation, beings do not want to enter into suffering. Or, it is merely the power of karma that causes the living world to become happiness and suffering, not Ishvara. The operation of karma is to produce its own results, and if it is shown that there is no result without the will of Ishvara, is that not the case? Therefore, Ishvara, who is free from desire and other defilements, is himself impartial, why would he urge and promote the production of happiness and suffering? Or, if the omnipresent and unique Ishvara himself is the cause in all things, then similarly, if that omnipresent and unique space and so on are not the cause at any time, then at that time, by what is it considered the cause of Ishvara? Just like space is not a cause.
