Nato! Therefore, the Blessed One, relying on proof, is considered a valid means of cognition. Here, the proof is the very word of truth that does not deceive. Therefore, the Blessed One is a valid means of cognition, but not intelligence, because although not deceiving in one aspect, it is not seen in all aspects, so it is not proof. The Blessed One's truthful words are not harmed by direct perception or inference in the realm of valid cognition. Realms such as the heavens, which are beyond the senses, should be understood because they do not contradict their own words. If there is no action on realms beyond direct perception and inference, because one is merely close to it and the other arises from a sign, if it proves omniscience, then that is acceptable. The permanent self and Ishvara, etc., are valid means of cognition. Why should they be understood as cause and effect? To refute that: "A permanent valid cognition is impossible. Because the realization of reality is valid, and the knowable is impermanent, because it does not reveal, it arises sequentially. Arising from a sign is not reasonable, because dependence is unreasonable." This is stated. For the permanent Ishvara, etc., there is no valid cognition. How is it known? Because it is seen that benefit is conferred by it everywhere. Because realization from an existent thing is a valid cognition, and inverted knowledge is not a valid cognition. Realization of an existent thing is also destroyed by the impermanence of the knowable, therefore it is not permanent here. This is the proposition. "The realization of reality is valid" shows the reason. "The nature of the knowable is impermanent" is a valid cognition that harms the dissimilar side. Therefore, it shows this: the permanent is not a valid cognition, because it is the nature of realizing an existent thing, like direct perception. If the knowledge of Ishvara, etc., is a valid cognition, then it is not permanent. Like this, if the valid cognition of knowledge itself is the action of the object, or arises from it, or is the form of the object, then if the permanent knowledge of Ishvara acts sequentially on the object to be measured, then, because action and non-action are different, it is not permanent. It is also not acting simultaneously, because the knowable is known sequentially.
