What is it that exists as the ability for the fruit to abide in the cause? What does this mean? Is it the nature of the fruit that exists, or does yogurt exist as the essence of the ability to abide in the nature of milk? Or, is it another nature that produces yogurt without contradicting the nature of milk? The first case is temporarily not allowed, because there is doubt about it, so the refutation says, "Just like that." If yogurt exists in the nature of milk, then milk should also be observed in the same way, because there is no difference in its nature. If it is said that it is not observed because it is not obvious, then what is this not obvious? Is it not understanding? Or, because of a nature different from that kind of nature, the nature of yogurt is essentially different? If it is not understanding, then the nature of milk cannot be misunderstood, because it is understood. If it is not manifested, then because of a nature different from that unmanifest nature, the nature of yogurt is essentially different. If it is said that milk and nature are the same, then the nature of milk is observed, then what does it mean to say, "Then from the nature of milk, another nature is not established?" This is saying that because one wants yogurt to exist, one should not respect only the nature of milk. Because one admits to being observed, confusion is not established because the nature of yogurt disappears. Therefore, what those who say these words say, "This is only approximate," means "only approximate." Like this, these people say that refutation is established through not seeing, which is contradictory, and they admit that it is mutually harmful. Therefore, the reason for the relationship that does not arise without it must be determined. If this is not admitted, then the saying itself is considered to have attachment, etc., by saying "only through not seeing the inconsistent side," etc., preventing refutation from being established only through not seeing one's own and others' commitments. If it is not confusing only through not seeing the inconsistent side, then how is refutation established? Because that was said, one's own

The intrinsic nature will refute the intrinsic nature. What is meant by 'intrinsic nature'? As shown, specifically pointing out its intrinsic nature is what is called 'related to just that.' If impermanence itself is not merely related to arising from effort, because things arising from effort also exist. Then, how is it called 'related to just that'? It is true, however, here we do not desire that kind of meaning of relation. If only that exists, it is established without relying on other reasons, therefore, existence in just that itself is called 'related to just that.' Therefore, since it is the intrinsic nature of the establisher, if those exist, it will not go beyond existence. Merely the existence of the establishing dharma is the very intrinsic nature of existence, which itself refutes the establisher. How does it refute? Even if it is not said, merely by the force of existence, it is certain to be a reversal because of returning. Does it refute because of existence, or because of non-existence? If it refutes because of existence, then it contradicts 'related to just that.' Therefore, it refutes because of non-existence. Therefore, when that which exists merely in that existence returns, existence will return, because it is its intrinsic nature, so it cannot be established without it. There are two ways of thinking about this: if there is no intrinsic nature, it will become without intrinsic nature, or the return can be established merely from the relation, or such an intrinsic nature is the pervader of the intrinsic nature, therefore, if there is no pervader, there is no pervaded. Or, what is said is in relation to the side of mere return, or because of having a definite object. What kind of reasoning is this form of return? For example, it is said to be like using a tree to exemplify a tree. When establishing a tree by the tree itself, if the tree to be established returns, then the tree will return. Here, in order to show how it refutes, therefore, it shows the very relation of being merely related, because only things with characteristics such as branches are called trees. Because of that reason, the tree is the intrinsic nature of the tree, as said before.
