It is related to "consciousness." The meaning of this is that if it is said that the result, namely consciousness, is established by depending on the senses, etc., and therefore it is said to be established, then consciousness is the result of the senses, etc., and consciousness is established by depending on them. If it is said that when it exists, existence is not realized, how can it be realized that consciousness depends on the senses, etc.? Because it is said to be "sometimes." This is saying that consciousness is of the nature of being sometimes. If it is not sometimes, then because it is constantly present, even if it is formless, it will change, and therefore it will not become the cause of form. If it is formless, it does not exist, and even if one does not see following form, depending on form is the result of form itself. Similarly, one should also understand about attention, because attachment to other things causes inconsistency, therefore consciousness will not arise. If there is no eye, then there is no existence, which is not established, because it is not directly perceived. If form, appearance, and attention exist, existence is not established, but if they do not exist, non-existence is established. For the senses, neither is established. However, even if form, appearance, and attention exist, consciousness, because it is sometimes, realizes that it has dependence, and that is also called the sense. What this shows is, what cause exists from this. Thus, the distinction of the nature of complete establishment is understood from the scriptures, and subsequent inference is not possible there. If the eyes are opened, consciousness will arise, and if it exists, existence is also established, then why is it not the direct perception of the knower himself? If only through inner awareness, one can recognize the special result of the senses from other parts of the nature, then it will become direct perception, just like fire and smoke, if there is something different from other things, existence can be recognized by the difference itself. Similarly, if it is said that the result is not specially recognized from other tangibles, but is proven to be different by different objects, or that the cause is recognized by the nature of one tangible, namely one part of the body, then it is not so, because that would also become a non-cause for other reasons, because there is no recognition of something different from the cause.

Therefore, direct perception does not apprehend what is cause and what is not cause, because it is always apprehended by consciousness that exists and does not exist. If that is the case, then, if the nature of burning, which is obstructed by the power of mantras and so on, is not apprehended as different from the power that is not obstructed, then will that also become direct perception not apprehending the objects of cause and effect? It is not so, because becoming a limb for accomplishing the result, the state of becoming other is the very place of establishment. The power of fire to burn is the very power of warmth, and if that is not present, then it is established as different by direct perception itself. Even if there is the power of warmth, if it does not burn, then it will only become a non-cause. If, from the point of view of the result, the sense faculty is a different meaning, then wouldn't it follow that consciousness arises merely without depending on it? If both are causes, then the difference of dependence should also be shown. If there is no difference, then it would also become that the very thing that produces the fruit of knowledge is the sense faculty. If you say that, then on this path of expression, inference cannot proceed, because from the contradiction of the result, the result is either one or itself is an aggregate of atoms, so becoming together with the sense faculty, even if it is many, dependence should become more excellent itself. Difference and non-difference do not revert from one and many. What are "what one" and so on? Although the meaning of the word "etc." itself also becomes form and so on, it is the very nature of the object of the sense faculty. The result of that itself, consciousness, is occasionally established, so saying that it is extremely established, is also merely the object of the sense faculty. Form and so on are said to be merely the fruit of consciousness. When consciousness is established as the fruit of form and so on, it is direct perception, and there is no need to rely on other establishers. That consciousness is not merely the cause of that, therefore the sense faculty is inferred from the existence of that. Therefore, like this, although this is not a direct perception establisher, the objects of cause and effect and inference are present. It is said that it is not so for the self. If the self is not direct perception, then it is also reasonable.
