If someone asks, is it just tasting food? Even when experiencing other flavors, it is impossible to determine that the flavor does not originate from other flavors, but is produced by the food itself. For that food, only the ability to determine that its flavor originates from itself is its characteristic, because it can be determined that it does not originate from other fruits. If other flavors can be determined, then that flavor does not exist. Thus, since the thing to be proven and the thing that proves cannot appear, there is nothing that can be done, because the thing that is merely the basis of what is seen is not the basis for proving that something does not exist. It has already been said that in all cases, non-existence is contradictory. Therefore, even if in some cases, something that can be determined but cannot be determined is admitted, in all cases, only the reversed determination should be regarded as valid cognition. Therefore, even if other flavors and other sources cannot be determined, if it can be determined that the flavor does not exist, then it is sufficient to prove that the flavor does not originate from other sources. Some commentators on the treatises say that this is an illusion caused by the suspicion of contradiction by direct perception. Even if the reasoning has already entered the object, there is still suspicion that direct perception will contradict it. For example, when inferring something through reasoning, it may sometimes be possible to determine other flavors. Even so, just as when inferring that something is blue through the reasoning of its result, direct perception sees that it is not blue, this situation may also occur. Therefore, even if the reasoning has three characteristics, the object without contradiction should also be explained as a characteristic. To this, it is negated with "not so." When inferring, since the object to be inferred is hidden, direct perception does not contradict the object that is the object of inference. Therefore, the dharma to be inferred can only be established through inference. Indeed, at the beginning of the inference, since the object to be inferred is hidden, direct perception does not contradict it. Even so, here it is not contradicted because of existence, but merely suspected of being contradicted. This suspicion is greeted with "if so," and refuted with "if the suspicion is so." If completely pure

If inference with three characteristics exists, but suspicion of harm makes it erroneous, then all inferences in your position would become like that, because inference is rooted in direct perception, not in things, and the harm that will occur cannot be recognized at that time. Therefore, no inference becomes valid. The reason for saying this is that for other inferences with fire etc. as their object, it is also certain that there is no harm. Therefore, if the inference arising from the three characteristics also depends on establishing that there is no harm, then the inference itself will collapse. Therefore, for the scriptures that proclaim the absence of harm, the entry of valid cognition is harmful, because that itself is suitable as a harmer. If one admits harm in the difference of not entering, entering, and acting related to doubt, then because of its existence, it is also said that inference does not enter, therefore all inferences are unreliable, because it is impossible to know that there is no harmer. Our inference does not have this fault, because it is rooted in things. If direct perception changes, then for it, the later cognition of the way things exist will also eliminate it. If it is impossible in external objects, then for what the self-awareness of impossibility is, that itself is the valid cognition of those skilled in discernment. Therefore, like this, here it is said that there is no such thing in the object of the proposition, because it is hidden, so there is no entry of harm. If it becomes faulty merely because of suspicion of harm, then the inference will be interrupted. Therefore, even if the nature of the proposition is obtained without elimination, and there are no faults of reason and example, the previous speakers have established the absence of harm, the absence of the object itself, as a more excellent establishment, therefore, because of its absence, this inference is erroneous, after welcoming the doubt in this way, the teacher says here that even the object itself without harm, because it is the image of the scripture, is not harmed by the harm of suspicion, but only by the harm of entry.
